ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX Available Late May - Mini LED, 144 Hz and HDR1400

Still only hdmi 2.0 - are you kidding me?! This is gonna be at least a 3k USD monitor, and they can't even include the latest revision of hdmi ?! -_-

Hard pass for me, cause that means compression for 4k 144 hz.

 

It looks like even on DP it's limited - can't do 4k 144Hz / 4k 120Hz HDR. I can't understand it.

 

Displayport 1.4 supports DSC too so 4K 144Hz should be just fine

 

I think the point here is people don't want DSC.

 

What does the C in DSC stand for? Bingo, compression.

I don't want to use compression, regardless of which kind it is.

 

What's up with DSC? I get that it is compression but I don't even notice anything weird with my Samsung Odyssey G7 and it requires DSC if I want to push all 240Hz at 1440p.

 

Now I understand your frustration. HDMI 2.1 would have allowed 4K 144Hz without DSC. Sorry for the misunderstanding there.

 

It wouldn't be needed if they included HDMI 2.1

 

Worst time to buy monitors.

DP 2.0 will revive power users.

I do not even care for hdmi 2.1 if I should pay 3210+ € for PC monitor.

For that price I could buy premium TV w/hdmi 2.1 and superior visuals.

 

And last year, I paid way less than half of that for LG CX 55"

 

not only that but it's using white mini-leds. i want full spectrum mini-leds, but i guess at this point it's almost like adding a zero to the price.
still it's moving in the right direction. i got myself a new "TUF" monitor as it has 144Hz, g-sync, 10 bit etc... but "only" HDR 600. still it was price competitive with Samsung and LG (the o.e.m.). too bad the "aura sync" is independent of laptops and mobos with the same feature.

 

its pointer haloing vs potential burn in, cant wait to see the reactions if miniLED ever gets anywhere on monitors

as soon as LG ships a CX32 cheaper than a 48, buying monitors will make as much sense as buying "computer speakers"

 

Price: If you have to ask, you can't afford it. It will be more expensive than a 65" CX OLED 4K TV, which is hilarious IMO.

 

G1 OLED 55" is the best "monitor" on the planet at this moment.

 

Not exactly new news and it will be £3,000. I'm very happy with my ASUS PG35VQ 35" 200Hz HDR1000 512 FALD which I bought from Amazon in their last Black Friday sale in November. Thank you Amazon for reducing it from its original RRP of £2,500 to £1,800, this being quite enough thank you for a gaming computer. I made my Dell U2711 1440 27" last for 10 years, no reason why the PG35VQ won't be good for 10 years.

 

You can buy computer speakers for not a lot. Creative Katana soundbar & sub is £195 and the Panasonic SC-HTB01 is £250. I have a Creative 5.1 but nowadays I use Sony MH-1000M3 BT noise-cancelling headphones for gaming.

I will say that so far it is a gorgeous monitor--and I was scared I might have overpaid for this DisplayHDR1000-certified Display Port monitor. Compared to the prices on these 27" & 32" Asus monitors, I got the bargain of the week. I'm not a fan of chip-driven interpolated and unrealistic refresh rates! Sucker bait, all the way, imo. Everything about this Philips monitor is great--and I am very satisfied--and I was also concerned with the idea that I might have to send it back if it proved less than its billing--which happily it exceeded, actually. The SDR average luminance of ~692nits, and the HDR max luminance of > 1000nits are superb--colors pop like they never did on my former BenQ 3270U. Just thought I'd pass it along. There are a lot of cool things about this monitor--one of them that impressed me was the monitor shipped fully assembled and pre-calibrated with a calibration receipt! Every monitor I've ever owned required that at the least I assemble the base stand and secure it to the monitor--and all of them required some form of user calibration. What a difference a monitor can make.

 

I'm actually quite fond of the old Sony standby phones, the MDR-7506 professional studio phones--When I bought my first pair they were $79--now they are $99--and they say there is no inflation... If you have a good HD phones setup they are fantastic. I know, however, that you enjoy yours--likely even better than these--which is incredible, when I think about it. HD Phones are the ticket today, imo. I never, ever pay attention to monitor or TV "sound"--it's all terrible, like it's coming from inside a tin can, imo... If you are going for speakers then go with good ones, but even cheap speakers can easily best what ships standard in most TVs and/or monitors, these days.

Having watched the review, it does seem an incredible screen but that price..............
