I was looking at some of the latest Intel Z590 motherboards and I was surprised to see that some come with the Realtek ALC897 Audio Codec. https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z590 Steel Legend/index.asp Does anyone know what is the difference of this and Realtek ALC887 Audio Codec? Should I look for something better (for example Realtek ALC1220) from such a motherboard?
most say there huge sound quality diffrence between the 2. I went from HD Audio ALC 889? on my Evga x58 SLI LE to a ACL 1150, and sound quality is night and day special when using my headphones, no more line noise my 2.1 speaker set up has no more lines noise either, will it didnt till it internal amp start acting up which made it had noise just being turned on. I now just use my headphones, which a joy to use to cause there no line noise at all
even alc1150 is noticeably better,z77 asrock to z97 gigabyte with 1150 I was surprised how clear the difference in sound is,instantly. it's asrock, not surprised.I guess they long time strategy is going back to being turds once again. avoid.
