well it's quite different that single core perofrmance is still gonna be noticeable, going form 8 to 10 cores mostly isn't. but I'd rather tweak the 3800x given how ridiculously expensive 5800x is.
3800X was 399 at launch. 5800X is still 449. So only 50 more. If they enable the curve optimizer for the 3000 series I would agree with you. Currently having more fun playing with this 5800X than I ever did with the 3800X.
The difference is that the 3800X was a completely useless option, while the 5800X is not. Nobody in their right mind would get a 3800X instead of a 3700X. There is no such choice to be made in Zen 3. There is no 5700X.
Upgraded 2700x to 5600x, for me it was worh it. Multicore Tests it seems the same or slightly better, Singlecore Performance much better but still only using old 580 8 gb Card that is the Bottleneck in most new games. Newer Agess better optimised for Ryzen 5000 Series, overall System feels more reactive and uses less watts.Dont think extra cores will help much in the future in terms of gaming performance. Will not upgrade CPU again before am5 / ddr5 comes up, i dont stream while gaming so 2 more cores not rly do anything here, 5800x maybe bit ahead but harder to cool and bit more expensive. with newer Bios Version that came out much easier to get 3800cl14 running. for comparison some numbers: 2700x cb23 Multi 10800 / 1124 Single 5600x cb23 Multi 11792 / 1580 Single
Except its not. 5600x is alot, alot faster in gaming. A 2700x is just a high clocked 1800x. Thats its. Its still first gen Ryzen. If I could, I totally would get a 5600x to upgrade my 2700x. I strictly game on this rig. I have a threadripper for everything else.
Upgrading from a 2700x is tough unless you pay quite a bit (im in the same situation). I just dont want to downgrade to 6core even if its faster in games. You'd want those 8cores today but there is only two options, 3800x (being close to 5600x in price) and 5800x (which is way to overpriced) so maybe its just better keeping it for a while longer and just saving up for am5/ddr5.
I went from an I7 7700 - 3800x - 5800x, the jump from 7700 - 3800x wasn't huge for top fps but game play was smoother and more stable.....it was the same going from 3800x - 5800x, like changing my gskill 3600 cl15 to cl14 in the bios.....no big difference but noticeably smoother game play, i can not imagine going fro a 2700 - 5600 or 5800x will give a mega performance boost but might be enough for better lows.
Depends. Purely for games and if you don't mind upgrading again in a year or two, I'd say it would be ok. The 2700x is average at best for games, even a 7700k beats it overall. The 5600x would be a good upgrade for games. Ideally though, I'd still stretch to a 5800x.
in pure performance terms - 2700x gets massacred. but there's a question of value.if he can get it for 300 us dollars then it's a good deal, but there are better ones.
Maybe when they released. 2700x outperforms 7700k easily in newer games. Cyberpunk is borderline unplayable on 7700k.
I play 3840x1080 144hz and I can tell you the 2700x struggles at times to keep the min fps up. In some titties im not even 99% gpu usage. Just depends. But i play alot of battlefield online and the 5600x would fly in that.
Core numbers are irrelevant when the multi-core score is still slightly higher than the 2700x. That's not a downgrade for multicore apps, that's a sidegrade, and an upgrade for gaming.
well i did upgrade from a 3900x to a 5900x, and to me it was worth it, i have a 240 hertz monitor 1440p, and i get more fps with the 5900x, it all depends what kind of game you play i would say, if you play rpgs and more single player game max detail i guess you dont really need the extra 30 fps
