I didn't even do this with the 2600k and the 1070. I was just targeting a frame rate and using either vsync and or reduced settings to get a stable frame rate.

If you need to mess up the OS or disable hardware features, your computer has other issues.

Btw, Windows 10 uses the hardware virtualization features of the CPU to accelerate memory isolation between applications, so you're actually losing performance if you turn it off.

But I bet that every security feature is also turned off, as are updates, amirite? :p

I have 10700k at 5ghz and 16gb ram at 4133mhz and rtx 3080 aorus xtreme with 2070 MHz and I'm running the game at 1080p 240hz all maxed out besides water physics and msaa. And I can hardly keep solid 75fps solid. It's normal? I mean I can keep 75fps but sometimes I see even 90% gpu usage.

Vulkan gives me all sorts of artifacts on my 3070, whereas DX12 doesn't. Some textures load just in front of you, and some clipping occur here an there. Doesn't happen on DX12.

And it's a game problem, since Quake II RTX and Doom runs perfectly. So, for RDR2, I'll stick with the better DX12 option for the 3070.

Game maxed out, 1440p, 80+ fps all the time here.

    Its a driver problem.

I've not played RDR2 for quite some time but last time I checked I got 60fps at 4K using optimized settings using both APIs but the difference between Vulcan and DX12 was that Vulcan gave me a lot of frame pacing. Not using ReBAR since it doesn't work well on my current BIOS version.

I guess I might get a different result now with newer drivers and beta BIOS.

Please remember to provide feedback for any Vulkan title that has taken a performance hit on recent drivers,

RDR2 should be ok now that Rebar is enabled, but there are plenty of others that still aren't whitelisted yet.

I'll need to test it on the newer driver but I also don't have a motherboard that has Rebar available, so not sure if I'll see any change at all.

Red Dead 2 has evolved better than any game I've ever seen. I can run 1440p with a mix of high, medium, ultra textures with 60fps. When it released it would average around 45fps @1080p with the same settings. Such a gorgeous game I need to play again. I want to see Charlotte again.

Neat, didn't know that. I do have virtualization enabled but good to know.

Yah they have made changes with the patches after the past year they have made some optimizations but I have noticed looking at some older screenshots they have downgraded the graphics a bit specifically LOD settings are lower than they were at release. You can see it pretty easily on the trees and other plants the lower quality LOD gets changed much closer to the camera now even at max Ultra settings.

I've spent a lot of time analyzing RDR2 visual settings since it released up until now. I got a 1440p monitor last year and honestly I'll take the higher resolution with a few graphic settings knocked down over 1080p with higher settings. That's just me. Would be nice if I could just buy a new GPU and not worry about it..

After the Rebar update the game flies in Vulkan.

Interesting - using pre-rebar settings (previous driver and old videobios) I had the following line same for DX12 and for Vulkan in system.xml
    <videoCardDescription>NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090</videoCardDescription>

now, after all rebar updates and changes I have this:
    DX12 system.xml
    <videoCardDescription>NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090</videoCardDescription>

    Vulkan system.xml
    <videoCardDescription>NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090</videoCardDescription>

Plus I got the error Out of memory almost every time I tried to start the game in DX12. I cleared Nvidia shader cache and now it works. I had no problems with RDR2 in the pre-rebar era.

No, it was just in reference to the sandbox comment.
I can't see how enabling it would make it slower. I haven't tested Sandboxie.
