GeForce 461.72 WHQL drivers: download & discussion

I installed the standard driver earlier this morning and it had the option to uncheck geforce experience

 

YouTube videos flickering/stuttering not fixed, Batman AK crashing still there, black screen at startup on RTX 2080 Ti not fixed, also ''Some desktop applications may flicker or stutter when resizing the window on some PC configurations''

Oh well..

 

This driver i think they added valheim profile.

 

That AMD wants to push people into buying 5000 series CPUs is cute, but that doesn't change the fact that Zen2 supports ReBAR and works well with it.

 

The driver has just been released and it already voted -13 on NVIDIA forum, usually it will take a while to be in the minus ..... I will pass this one waiting for the hotfix or the next release

 

so, you wont test it because its -13 on nvidia forum. ok sure.

This driver works fine for me. Altho they allways are. Only problem been that Shadowlands been flickering. Hopefully its gone with this one. Will try longer and see.

I won't test cause I always wait for the hotfix 2 days after the driver, but this time I might skip the hotfix cause I read some of the comments.

I may skip all NVIDIA driver updates now on waiting the 21h2 release, cause no gain for me at all, it is just more bugs

Ryzen 3000 does support RB but nvidia "won't let" their cards to work with them only with 5000 series so in the end its a no go!

 

Windows 7, GPU (GTX 1070) not detected / recognized after driver install.

Driver works fine on 7, i suspect you haven't got your system updated for sha2 compliance.

The batman issue is actually a client bug, nvidia were previously working around it with a try catch sort of thing.

Apparently can't do that after the recent security updates in the UMD, so its up to the AK developer to stop trying to execute memory in a NX region, otherwise it'll require an update to the relevant Turbulent library (which hasn't changed between AK working and AK not working)

As to the browser jank, the release notes has a workaround for that listed.

Keep in mind, 450, 455 and 460 were 2.9 drivers till they weren't.
I expected 465 based on ReBar being a fairly big KMD change (and Feb/Mar usually being a point where the family increments) (Also my expectations are just a single driver off, next release is new branch)

As it seems, Nvidia are pulling with ReBar what AMD did long ago with its temporary support of Command lists, using game whitelists.

Valheim requires the performance state being set to prefer max in a lot of cases.

No change here, the issue is linked to one that has been worked on for some time and because of it being in certain core source code you'll only see it when the branch increments.

 

System is updated, no problems with previous 461.40.
