Got a Strix 1080ti and the new drivers are running about 10 -20c (56c) higher in idle anyone else having heat issues. MY AO Ryzen sitting pretty at 25c but have to now put cooling profile to max to get idle temperature down.

Just did a dust blow out as well so not dust build up.

Did a DDU and put on 457.51-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql and can get back down below 40 (38) idle.

ídem gpu here.18/ 22C idle, 65C Max ingame.(f.e. the división 2 3400x1400 gsync,100fps médium) Last Nvidia drivers ok.
    Afterburner fan automatic, with 1:1 after 40C (40/40, 50/50, 55/55)
    Try it

I take the simple approach with all my fan controllers by starting my curve with the highest fan setting that isn't audible to me from where I'm sitting and then usually just scale up 1:1 like @fpollan said. You can fine tune the middle of the curve after that but for the most part this is gonna be a great starting point.

Are you running Afterburner? Afterburner is essential regardless of what you're doing.

For reference my ambients are usually around 19c-20c and my 3080 idles around 22c-25c with this curve.

Isn't it a known issue with the drivers and some monitors?

Well if it's 10...20°C higher when idle then it's not idle. Say, i'd try 461.09 install with barebone minimum (required) via slimming utility and see if it changes it. If it does, then something installed in your system (rootkit perhaps?) probably uses something from that full 461.09 package to eat some of GPU for some hidden crypto mining or whatnot, eh.

As far as I know, "NVIDIA Container" is causing this.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Mini OC
    "NVIDIA Display Container LS" service running ~ 9.5% TDP GPU / ~0.1% CPU / > 40°C
"NVIDIA Display Container LS" service stopped ~ 6.5% TDP GPU / 0% CPU / <40°C

cpu usage doesn't make gpu hot.

If you stopp the service you will see that the idle temp will go down.

Yeah but my card at max load never goes over 65c.
