So INTEL I5 and above will be on 3nm TSMC as soon as 2022?
    Surprising and interesting to read.
If true, that will defenitely shuffle the cards.

Wondering if TSMC will be able to feed all its clients though.

Nothing against TSMC, but will they be able to keep up?

This is quite funny considering for years Intel was a couple of steps ahead of everybody else. It's even more ironic when you remember that although Intel neglected to develop its CPU architecture in a significant manner for nearly a decade, they did develop the process node technology all the time. Something just went wrong. I dare say all the flaws were in the Intel leadership, and they still haven't fully recovered, despite having kicked out most of the guilty ones. If the leadership is rotten, not even brilliant engineers will be able to turn their whole intelligence into good products.

tsmc would be on 3nm before intel could have a functional 7nm
    they'd never catch up

This must be a hard pill for Intel to swallow, but they needed to do something.

15-20%!? Considering Intel's volume (while still managing to sell out everything), that is one huge order they placed. I wouldn't be surprised if that exceeds the production of desktop and laptop Ryzen chips.

I wonder if this a cpu production cycle just to make some marketing, while most of the low/medium end desktop cpu and server cpu will be still intel fabbed.
Or TMSC is opening factories everywhere.

I´m sorry Hilbert but this article is a little confusing. In the title you wrote that TSMC is going to produce Intel CPUs but in the first paragraph of the article you also wrote "Intel has outsourced the production of about 15-20% of its non-CPU chips", basically the direct opposite of what´s written in the title...

So wich one is the correct one? I find hard to believe Intel is going to outsource their CPU manufacturing so maybe TSMC are going to produce chipsets and other secundary chips?
The last one seems more logical and would create massive problems for AMD and Nvidia at the same time...

TSMC recently dropped volume discounts for large customers which may have opened up some production capacity.

The difference is that TSMC they can't produce fast enough to satisfy everyone already. They'll make more money just making and selling the chips. They would shoot themselves in the foot to use the same cartel tactics.

Well if the past few months are anything to go by... ehm... I guess that answer is a profound "No" :p

As TSMC reaching capacity limits, expect prices to go up.
