I have a few questions for a new display. From looking at a couple of hundred of them it seems, I see some features that I need help with. Panel type is as follows , ips the best, VA next in line and TN worst. I also see that some are compatible with both AMD and nvidea gpus (fresync, gsync). Is this good or bad. Also what is HDR and is it needed?

It looks like I have to get a new one as my wifes is going bad. She will take my current display (msi 1920x 1080) and I will be getting a 1440 one. That is if I find what I'm looking for and IN STOcK.

    Hi there

Personally I would take IPS monitor over VA or TN panels,VA panel is not bad although IPS does have much better image quality but sometimes VA can be good as IPS, it depends on the monitor and what price bracket it is

AOC monitors are my favourite because they're offering lots of for money and plus they're G-Sync compatible

For HDR I wouldn't go below 400 nits, better have 1000 nits

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

HDR is not worth it if monitor cant do local dimming and over 600 nits imo.

I dont know about those monitors, you should look them up on displayninja o rtings for reviews.

Ill throw another 2 monitors in the mix for you to look up.

Lg 27gl850 and the ASUS vg27aq.

Both are 27" 1440p 144 and 165hz and both gsync compatible.

Im running the lg atm and very happey with it.

Sorry to take so long to get back, have been busy.I know this is going to sound stupid, but the AOC, LG only have 1 year warranty's. As a engineer myself usually manufactures like to build things that last until the warranty expires if you know what I mean. The ASUS vg27aq I will look at and see some reviews. Biggest issue I seem to have is that when I do find a monitor I like, i find out that this don't work with advertised features like G-sync on it only supports 144hz with hdmi x.x and not DP. Things like that. I will look at those suggested review sites.

Oh, did not know about 1 year warranty on Lg. Its not like that where i live.

Both lg and asus are gsync compatible 100% (nvidia sticker and all).

And afaik, gsync/freesync is usually worse over hdmi, dp works 100%.
