Despite AMD's claims that Smart Access Memory is only compatible with Zen 3 cpus apparently it also works on older Zen architectures and increases performance according to tests done on the Computerbase forums. In Benchmarks on a Ryzen 2700X with a RX 6800 enabling the feature improved the framerate in AC Valhalla by about 15%. https://www.computerbase.de/2020-12...-renoir-matisse-b450/#update-2020-12-18T15:06
Good news for my aging 2700X planing to keep it until ddr5. Anyway do you have to have rx6000 series gpu or can it be used with older gen?
It actually could work with older cards, but difference would be really small or no existent from what I asked.
I so hope this is true. Would be a shame for still relevant hardware to lose out on some of this generations additional GPU performance
2700X is not old..."at least not to me I'm still on 2600k".....Now that's old!....little chip still works great/new solid-state drive brought it back to life....Zoom...
You have to enable it in your BIOS and you need a driver that supports it. I don't think Nvidia has released one yet. If it's active the device manager should show "Large Memory Range" in your GPU properties.
Looks like support goes all the way back to at least Vega and Polaris. Maybe AMD just forgot to lock these GPUs out though.
Disabled csm and enabled 4g decoding but no resize bar on my x570 gaming x or i just cant find it. Latest f31o bios.
which board is this? combined with what cpu? edit: that screenshot is from an article with a 5000 series ryzen, so naturally resize would be shown.
