Z390 will not get that support?

If it's part of the PCIe spec and only requires a BIOS update then I wonder why it's not been included up till now?

The z490 boards need certain hardware too, many cheap z490 for ex. don't have this.
We're talking about Gen4 support yeah?

edit : nvm nothing adding to the conversation

but off-topic I noticed this year maybe because I followed hardware more than usual, that all the high-end motherboards disappear very quickly, even on X570 that should be more than ever in demand !
the msi godlike and creation seem to have disappeared, shops sell what they have in stock and then they become undeliverable too bad I wasn't against getting one ^^

Not to my knowledge. What I understand is that BAR was introduced as part of PCIe 3.0 specifications, so ideally any 3.0 compatible board should have the necessary hardware to support it. Please feel free to correct me if I am missing something here.

But I don't expect the updated BIOS to be available on my Z97 Sabertooth. :)

This wasn't the pic i was looking for, this board has something else to aid pcie4, i'll try find it if you like, it's perhaps in my manual. Basically though the z490 must have correct hardware.

    Good Point.

I think that hardware, as you suggested, is necessary for PCIe 4.0. Since BAR has been available as part of PCIe3.0 spec, I am wondering if it can technically be implemented on all 3.0 Boards. Just a thought.

I believe this feature is actually not locked to PCIE4. This was confirmed by Gamer's Nexus after consulting with Nvidia.

I'd like my Z370 to be supported too, but yea I'd be surprised if I got it. Although I did receive updates till last year for security fixes issued by Intel. Who knows...maybe Intel will push OEMs to do the same for this.

Think Gigabyte will add the support for B460 Series as well like MSI is doing? while i don't have a RTX capable card yet, but having the support for future would be awesome, but won't get my hopes up as yet

Just checked for my z490unify and it's ready to download, but I wont install beta bios just yet.

Would be nice if it were unlocked for all dx12 pcie3.0 cards though, not just bs Ampere 3000 series exclusive, but knowing ngreedia I dont have any hopes at all.

I seem to have the option available on X470 using beta bios from Gigabyte. Didn't notice it before. Now Nvidia need to enable it in their driver. :)

Be very careful, AMD BIOS for BAR is only for upgrades to irreversible BIOS update to use Ryzen 5xxx chips. If you are not using a 5xxx chip, it may leave your mobo in an unusable state.

As I already wrote in another forum topic: my asus apex VI x299 supports enabling "above 4G decoding", but It doesn´t offer the BIOS option to enable "resizable BAR", yet....
Asus is updating x299 board BIOSs pretty frequently (x299 ROG series like Omega, Encore, etc.)
Asus additionaly describes this BIOS option: "Globally enables or disables capable devices to be decoded in above 4G address space (only if system supports 64bit PCI decoding)"
