    looks good.
imo this is gonna compare to 2080S even better than 3070 compares to 2080Ti.
2080Ti has massive bandwidth and vram advantage,2080S will have none.
I think nvidia showed it faster than 2080S and I don't expect 3060Ti to come close,I expect it to beat 2080S by 6-7% at least.

Let's just say "nearly half as expensive as"... It's still not going to be cheap. I fear it's going to be over 500 euros and thus I'll count it out as ridiculous for what should be mainstream.

    for the fancy aibs,sure.
    but then again,fancy 2080S cards are 800.

3070 will only get faster going forward, and according to other big sites, it's already on par with 2080 Ti at 1440p. Hell even at 4K (which I would never buy 3070 for, it's a 1440p high refresh rate card for the most part). 2080 Ti is not a 4K card anymore either. You need 3080 as bare minimum for true 4K gaming in newer games, especially going forward. 2080 Ti is simply too slow overall and so is 3070.

Maybe you should read up on Tensor Memory Compression on Ampere, if you think 2080 Ti has a "massive" advantage when it comes to VRAM. Most 3070's hits massive overclocks on the memory but you can't compare raw bandwidth gen to gen with different architectures anyway.

If someone offered me a free 3070 or a free 2080 Ti, I would pick the 3070 any day of the week. It will simply age better than Turing. Even TODAY they perform pretty much the same. 3070 win some, 2080 Ti win some, overall pretty much 100% even. In 6-12 months, the 3070 is going to be 5-10% faster than the 2080 Ti, just wait and see. Nvidia will keep optimizing and tweaking Ampere, while Turing is not going to see much in terms of tweaking.

no need to explain my post, bandwith is the value specified in GB/s.
tensor memory compression was a rumor man......
please point me to a part of 3000 series whitepaper where it mentions TMC

I said myself ampere has a lot of untapped potential.
but you can't know that it's going to be 10% faster for sure.
we might see a situation like first gcn cards - a card with a lot of compute power takes time to be properly utilized.
right now I'm not seeing it in games, only in workstation use.

40% cheaper than the 2080 Super... yeh, not in 2020, it's going to go for atleast €650.

if the stock is poor then it might as well
but Im seeing better stock for 3070 now, they've been available for about 600 for some time now,not in great numbers but enough to meet the needs of those who like to overpay for new.
hoping to see 3060ti actually available at near msrp.

actuall the rog 3070 is available at 640 here and I'm having a hard time resisting, the card is so effin beautiful.

If you look at 3070 vs 2080 Ti done properly, meaning both are reference or custom, 2080 Ti is simply not faster. Alot of people are compairing 2080 Ti custom cards, even with factory OC, to a 3070 Stock/Founders.

In this video, he compare Founders Editions - 3070 vs 2080 Ti -

Ampere has ALOT of new features that will help with VRAM Usage, thats why Nvidia put less VRAM on there overall. NVCache, Tensor Memory Compression and Ampere cards soon gets "SAM" too. This will easily be better than just 3GB more on the 2080 Ti, going forward.

Ampere is not just tweaked Turing, it's a new arch. A new arch ALWAYS gets optimized and tweaked in the following months after launch.

again,is TMC even a real thing ? I can't find a mention of it apart from clickbait yt channels like mlid where it originated in a ms paint slide he completely made up.This is what happens where you have to deliver 20 minutes of commentary every three days but there's no content to talk about.I absolutely despise channels like that.
look, absolutely dead wrong, which only tells you how little they know and how much of their content is just manufacturing their own story.

the main thing about ampere is fp32+int32 is now fp32+int32/fp32.
it's not being properly utilized as I may infer from the actual gaming performance vs turing as opposed to compute workloads, but once it is,it's gonna be a quick death for turing.

Yeah it's part of the architecture - its mentioned in deep dive of the arch

No doubt 3060 Ti will be a decent card for 1440p, with only 12-15% less performance than 3070

But I expect 3060 non-Ti to be far more popular, 1060 was, 2060 was and 3060 will be too, 300-350 MSRP seems to be the sweet spot for most customers !! And most of them are using 1080p still

no way no one is buying a 6g card anymore

can you point me to the thing about tensor mem compression ?

6GB might be the new 4GB, for the bottom of the barrel, entry level gaming cards that can still actually run games at 1080p.

I think pricing a 6g card at 350 is not giving them a good value option,I think it's making them get a 400 8g card.
although I'd rather have this to play whatever it can and sacrifice detail where it struggles than sit on some mid range pascal cause I don't like my options.

Nothing entry level about a 3060 tho, 1080p card, yes

Alot of gamers are still using 1080p, altho at 240-360 Hz

VRAM is not a problem here. 3060 might easily deliver 2070 Super perf for 300 bucks

A friend of mine picked up 3060 Ti on release for 399 / MSRP price and recieved it the day after.

Don't pay overprices... There IS some cards for MSRP, not in stock tho

It should be the first real gaming card. Not an entry level video card in general, for sure, but I wouldn't buy anything below it for gaming uses. That's why I called it an entry level gaming card. That being said, I wouldn't buy a video card with less than 8GB of memory for gaming, personally, which is the reason I said 6GB would be for the bottom of the barrel gaming card.

I would not either but tons of people that uses 1080p at 144-360 Hz play esports games, which use pretty much no VRAM, we are talking 1-2-3GB
I'm sure they will sell alot of these cards

Almost 80% of Steam users uses 1080p or less

I'm myself at 1080p. However, it ought to be either 3060 Ti or 6700 (XT) for me, depending on the 6700 (XT) performance. Even my ancient, moldy Radeon 390 has 8GB, so it would be quite impossible to get one with less memory. On the other hand, if I ever want to try RT even for the laughs, the plain 3060 would seem like a dubious choice. Not to mention it's not like games would suddenly become lighter in the near future. I like to stick to a video card for a few years at the very least.

Esports players aren't the kind of gamers I'm talking about. They are eathletes. Their needs are very specific to them, and them alone. Gamers are playing a variety of games, including the newest AAA games. Of course this is just my opinion, but I consider it reasonable.
