Yup, IMhO minimum of 12GB Right now it is hard to tell if it's be not enough, 1440p should be fine, as of 4K im not so sure anymore.
Actualy I'm gonne do 1440p but still it feels like they are being stingy with the Vram on the 3080 as the cards of AMD have 16Gb on the PCB
New GDDR6x is the real reason, there is no 2GB chips yet IMhO is better to wait (if someone needs nV) for Super GPUs in late summer 2021. Then they can give 6x2GB or 8x2GB GPUs easy.
Yeah but I will settle for 10Gb GDR6X enough for me so I'm stil happy with my order I placed last month still waiting tho......
Yeah, if you want a 4K card because you have a 4K Monitor or definitly will buy one, then wait for the TI Models, go for the 3090 or probably wait for the AMD release to see how good they are (or if you can handle the downsides if there are some). I wanted to to have a real fast 1440p card for my not so old 1440p Monitor which is anything else than AMD because I have had AMD Cards for a while now and wanted something else (no fanboy, just gotten bored). I don't care about 4K in the nearer future - so I don't care about only 10 GB VRAM. I can tell you that I am very happy.
I'm still waiting for the order I made from SCAN Computers UK on launch day Sept 17th at 14:03pm to this day, at 31 in the queue so there's light at the end of the tunnel
I returned my Ventus x3 OC. Waiting for either Gigabyte Gaming OC or TUF OC, but seems like i wont receive them before mid late december or january
I had a ventus 2070s, i pushed it too far and it died on me. I think you did the right thing, have you a card to get you by that is the real question?
Well I started this thread with a best buy preorder on Sept 17th, which they never fulfilled. Terrible retailer btw (at least in Canada). Will never order anything from them again. Newegg on the other hand, I did get a drop from after a ton of struggle. So far I'm 2050 on GPU core clock and 20050 on memory. I start getting instability if I raise either by much, temps don't seem too bad.
thats the thing, I bought this for FS2020 mainly also since most other games ran well with my 1080Ti but its at FS2020 that the performance gain is almost non-existent. I guess im severely bottlenecked by my 7820x
I think it's a combination of both but yes there are some CPU limitations but here's where the GPU scaled a modern CPU (Rzyen 9 3900X). So I built the PC with my old 1070 at first (since 3080 sold out at launch). Then I had motherboard issues so I temp bought a 2060 Super thinking it was the GPU. RMA motherboard and then returned 2060 Super when I got the 3080 so I could give you a rough idea of the progression of GPU with otherwise same CPU. 1070 it was in the 20s lucky if it got to hold 30s 2060 Super actually wasn't bad...it just financially made no sense at $400 what you get. Easy low 40s sometimes dropped into 30s and heavy heavy populated areas it suffered 20s but definitely playable in most areas 3080 50s to 80s depending on area with occasional drop to mid 40s if heavy dense areas. Here's the Halloween Challenge in suburbia. Insane butter and good frame rates and that was just on medium settings (didn't realize by accident I had it turned down but visually still looks great but hello 80-90 FPS. Also distant friend who lives in Montana wanted me to show him his area. Also silky high frame rates on 3080 with the graphics turned back up.
Well think I might try out navi...can always send back if its drivers are shite. Cheers Shadowdane nice info! Skol.
Just cancelled my order I'm gonne wait for a higher amount of GDDR6X release I mean I thought about it so Xbox 16Gb Playstation 5 16 Gb AMD all cards for now 16Gb all GDDR6 but still games will follow so I'm waiting on a super version of the 3080 with 20Gb if it releases and for now I'm still happy with my RTX 2070 so for the rest enjoy your cards all good intended ofc edit even considering the RX 6800X at this point
