Now with special techniques like RT lower tiers will never match higher tiers.

3070 oc will never beat stock 3080 and 3080 oc will never beat 3090 stock in raytracing or other shader cores heavy scenarios. Clocks are useless except mere rasterization or simple sampling. Same goes for new radeons. There will be scenarios that 6800 will always be slower than 6800xt and 6800xt will never catch up to 6900xt.

Honestly yeah there should be at least 15-20% difference there. But is that 15-20% really worth that 1k to you? Maybe if you sell the 2080 Ti then purchase the 6900.

I'd love to do the same if we could actually buy the CPU without scalpers getting to them first. After this CPU and Nvidia GPU scalping, I sadly expect this to happen with the AMD cards....it's sad and ridiculous.

Wanted to get a 6900 xt but i spent more than i wanted on the cpu and got a 5950x, have a monoblock for it and said why not, i wanted a 5900x but can't find them in stock. So will "settle" with a 6800 xt for sure.

Question regarding waterblocks, as i noticed amd doesn't have much support from ek waterblocks, judging by the 5700, only reference pcbs and the asus strix get ek love?

    Yup.
But there are custom AIO/blocks, one is on news here right now. As it supports Vega/5700 then for sure it will support 6800xt, as they always use same screw spacing. Well, I would check it before buy anyway.
I thin I pull trigger on 6800xt too. Need wait for test, but if it deliver good 4k frames(for my VR) I'll try it. 2080s is kinda weak.

Are you refering to the ID cooling one? Yea i've seen it and although they are more then enough for the gpu i never liked them(AIOs) for vrm/vram cooling, though i think that fan is enough as well.
I'm only interested in custom loop blocks,as i have too much rad surface not to cool gpu as well.

So, little more than a week now. It's actually the first time in years I'm actually excited about these things

Are they going on sale Wednesday next week at 15:00 hours CET again, like the Ryzen 5000?

I still might since I haven't recieved my 3080 yet.
but it's not my preferred option since I will never find a freesync alternative to xb241yu

I would have gotten a 6900xt if amd hadn't been cheap about the buswidth. That 256 bit bus is gonna seriously hamper it at 4k and above, where as if it had a 512 bit bus, it would have destroyed the 3090 at 4k. Alas it aint so, so i instead got a 3090.

Well they seem to have more bandwidth available than nvidia so not an issue. But alas nvidia can then again muster more power on higher resolutions being way more tflops.

Only through smart memory - if you only go by the bandwidth the actual card has, it is closer to half of the 3090 due to 256 bit gddr6 vs 384 bit gddr6x.

But yeah, we are gonna see amd smash nvidia at lower res, where bandwidth isn't as important, but 3090 will remain a bit faster at 4k.
