Yes but the node process changes are faster than that

correct me if I'm wrong but isnt the whole problem right now because Micron is having trouble producing enough gddr6x? (btw i have a 2080ti with micron memory that i had to RMA lol, and i will still buy a 3080ti, especially if price is under $1000)

I think that's a rumor, I havent seen anything concrete as of yet. I wouldnt be surprised if its more to do with yields and maybe even more so the state of the world today with all this Covid virus and lockdowns. Its a testing time atm.

I hope it is not 3080 Ti with 12GB but at least 16GB of vRAM because the previous 2 80 Ti cards didn't increase in the amount of vRAM between the two generations of cards and with the past 3 generations of 80 Ti cards they would only increase the amount of total vRAM by 1 is just pathetic. If you are going to add to AMD's competition at least compete with vRAM as well as performance.

lol, so funny how many are looking to increase vram, when most of the time the HP needed to actually run stuff at UHD and high settings isnt there, especially when running an air cooled card.

i have yet to see a game that runs better on my friends 2080ti vs my oc 2080S with a full block yet only 8gb.

sure there are SOME games that can make use of more vram (thats needed for res etc), but its a handful and not everyone plays those.
completely ignoring "future proofing" would need to be 14+gb, and keep the card for 5 or more years.
    otherwise get a 10/12gb 4060ti in a year...

Yeah I get what you are saying. I was just stating if it is a 80 based Ti card they should make it like one in terms of performance and vRAM. The last card that had a huge jump in vRAM amount was the 980 Ti to 1080Ti. That is all.

not really when it comes to tis, that had a "bigger" chip (outside titan) above them in the product lineup.
they could do a xx80 VRAM+ or something...

Guys and Girls.... Do not get too excited. Hardly anyone managed to get a 3000 card anyway. Been out ages now and I have checked everyday since launch on the Nvidia site and seen jack S..T in stock . So another Holy Grail product you wont be able to buy. Also on the Nvidia site when you click to check available stock it never directs you to Ebay where there seems to be loads for sale.........

Why not something more practical in the memory allocation and for a corresponding drop in price.
No game out there currently utilizes 20 GB...and won't for quite some time.
    It is pure marketing.

So practically, a 3090 with slower an less memory.
Probably to tackle the 6900XT, though I doubt this would be cheaper than 1200€.

They obviously have good data from the AMD cards and think they have to respond. IMO it doesn't matter much what they do since they cant supply cards as is.
Everything they are producing is selling right away to scalpers.
Next up. The 5000 series of CPU. Popcorn is ready.

Embarrassment after embarrassment. More paper launch products. This time one that screw over both 3080 and 3090 owners to fill a performance gap that doesn't exist. Just call it quits and focus on 4000 series.

Nv can release 3080ti for 500 € as 2080ti price kompensation.

Right now I think NV is trying to slow the sales of AMD's new cards, making people "wait" for something better around the corner.

Why would they have more stock in a Ti line, unless they are already killing production on the present 3xxx line for a more competitive lineup.
Kind of cheesy for those now with a 3080/3090.

How do rumours translate into a company being confused..?
It's more likely people incorrectly guessing and then trying to correct themselves
