Of course , just speaking of pure performace for $ you get now , its big progress over 3 years ,compare to that before , for 6 years you did nothing with Intel ( 5% per generation upgrade).

220$ is way beyond entry level.

    .
People on enthusiast forums have a rather distorted perspective of "entry level" tbh.

    Exactly :) , if it wasn't for AMD we would all have a i7 4 Core 10700K at $500

Probably true but this is an Enthusiast forum after all.
To pick up a point someone mentioned earlier in the forum re the 5700 I would not personally bother, its like the 2700 I bought for my Wifes PC (now replaced with a 3900x) it was pretty maxed out as it came and had very little room to improve, overclocking didnt do a lot and it was quite temperamental and would crash if you tried to tweak Ram especially, I would say the x version is worth the extra because you just hit that PBO and step back its that good

Theoretically in AMD world 8-core is today's mid-range, while 16 or more is Enthusiast / High-end (and the 3900X/5900X 12-core being "almost" High-end)

6-core would definitely be below mid-range, so it costing $300 is a bit too much.

We need a 5600 non X and perhaps some cheap quad cores for those that play E-sports games that need clocks and single-threaded performance more than cores.
The 3300X was a good attempt, but poorly executed unfortunately.

    ---
This is how I see it:

    4-core Entry level/Low end
    6-core Mid-Low range
    8-core Mid-range
    12-core Mid-High range
    16-core Enthusiast level / High-end
TR 24-32 core Pro level, or "I'm rich and I don't care"
TR 64 core ... compensating for something

3300X was good joke from AMD. If you can find one it's priced almost same as 3600....

ALL Gigabyte models that support Q-flash :

    Q-Flash USB Port
This is no longer a problem with the new Q-Flash Plus feature. By simply downloading the latest BIOS and renaming it on a USB thumb drive, and plugging it into the dedicated port, you can now flash the BIOS automatically without the need to press any buttons or even the need of onboard memory or CPU.

Quite from GB site , also bolded in mobo features "
    • Q-Flash Plus Update BIOS without Installing the CPU, Memory and Graphics Card

I Have B550 Aorus Elite , quite good mobo , around 120-150 EUR . But there are many many options . Market is flooded with good B550 mobos.

Cinebench scores are in 2000 points, my old 5960x would score at 4.7Ghz something like 1700-1730 points and this bloody 5600X is just 6 core/12 thread, awesome value for money from 5600X

    Thanks, Jura

For reference my 8700K on Ln2 at 6.9Ghz hit 2335cb I had a 2200Mhz clock advantage and that 5600X at 4.7Ghz is only 300cb behind! These things on cold are going to be beasts!

Can't wait to see what you guys can do on LN2 with new 5xxx CPUs , I'm still pleb with OC, I do as max OC under water as max, props to you guys

6.9GHz bloody hell that's awesome, at what voltage did you manage OC 8700k to 6.9GHz?

I have only tried two 8700k and two 8086k, one of 8700k wouldn't do more than 5.2GHz at 1.35v,anything below that voltage would result in BSOD, another one wouldn't OC beyond 5.1GHz and temperatures under water and 2*360mm radiators started to rise to 90's, both CPUs have been delided that time, 8086k been slightly better but wouod do 5.1GHz or 5.2GHz too quite easily, 5.3GHz been possible but temperatures started to hit on some cores 90°C

    Thanks, Jura

Yeah I'm looking forward to playing with ln2 on them for sure! Zen2 was fun, but these will be awesome!

I ran about 1.8v for 6.9Ghz On ambient this chip would do 5.3Ghz with 1.35v on Air without a delid! On water it would do 5.4Ghz with 1.35v delid easy all day long! It was able to pass R15 5.6Ghz with 1.44v with liquid metal and strong custom water. Was one of the strongest 8700Ks out there. Was sad to sell it :(

1320cb on my 6c/12t @4.6Ghz 5820K over here, and of course it's working at nothing less than 140W for this performance.
