Who's getting a RX6000 Series Card?

I sold my MSI GTX1080Ti Duke and a bunch of 3DFX stuff I had laying around in anticipation of the new generation.
I am definitely getting something new.
As long as the drivers are stable and the racing sims I currently run do so fluid, I'll get whatever is priced accordingly.
My last AMD graphics card experience was not great.
That 6800XT does look attractive and will probably be my first from them in years.
It should pair nicely with my R5 3600x.

 

A 6800XT would be ideal for me as I need it to handle 3840x1080 144Hz, the 6800XT should be able to handle that. Buuut, if the 6900XT is priced around the Radeon VII, or a smidgen above that, I'd go for it instead....just hope there's widespread availability when the 6800XT/6900XT are launched.

Edit - I hope AMD has been taking notes on the RTX3xxx launch debacle....

With a 1440p screen I can't justify purchasing a 6800. I'll upgrade as prices drop, I do want directstorage but support for that will take a lot of time.

Who's getting a RX6000 Series Card. I think it would be better to wait it out with all the changes in the GPU Landscape until the dust settles and needless to say pricing.

 

It sure would be "nice to own" card for me but my 5700 does way more than i need so at 1080p im good for a few years

 

It's a killa card for 1080p and probably will be for some time.

 

Yeah I also have a 3700x cpu so all my ipc problems have pretty much gone away

Unless all people hard set on getting nVidia get AMD's cards instead, there is going to be reasonable supply.
Demand for nVidia's cards is like 4 times as high as for AMDs. In 2 weeks, being closer to availability, marketing chains will spill some info.

 

I imagine all those that could not get nvidia card will go with amd this time around. If the supply is good amd could gain marketshare we didnt see a long time.

6800xt for everyone that wanted the 3080 and could not get it.

 

I been using Nvidia since the GTX 580, but seeing i will get a Ryzen 7 5800X and the new AMD GPUs will work together with the CPU i will most likely get 6800 (non-xt).

Something i have to know before i will though, what are the available Anti-Aliasing options for AMD, because i know SGSSAA isn't supported for example, which i do use in a couple of games.

 

AA can't be forced in most of modern games via Radeon Settings. But some months ago, AMD made improvement to downsampling and refresh rates.
Before, I was limited by resolution * refresh_rate as GPU was sending higher resolution image into monitor and that had to do downscaling. (Not exactly high quality, as all monitors are pretty bad at it.) So, I could have native 1080p @240Hz, or 1440p ~@144Hz or 4K ~@75Hz.
Now, All resolutions have option to use full 240Hz as downsampling is done by GPU and then native 1080p goes to screen which in my testing provided much better results.

RDNA1 lost some video processing features for HW accelerated video players, but anything that's HW accelerated can be injected with ReShade anyway.
I expect RDNA2 to bring those back.

 

I mainly use SGSSAA in older games (DX9), where SuperResolutions arn't always possible.

Does AMD have SSAA?

 

That's available for older games as well as Adaptive Multisampling.

On note of older games, check what can following do for your games even on nVidia's side:
DXVK (Vulkan Wrapper for DX9/10/11), DxWrapper (fixes for compatibility for W10 + windowed mode), d912pxy (wapper from DX9 to DX12 originally for GW2) and SoftTH (Software Tripple Head which can change resolutions, cut parts of original frame buffer and send that to different screens.)

 

What do you mean with "before"? VSR always worked that way, by internally rendering-then-downscaling and outputting @ the native resolution and refreshrate.

Even on my R9 290X, which I had when VSR got introduced, it worked like that. My Full-HD monitor wasn't able to downscale higher than 1440p, which indeed looked like crap on it, but 3200x1800 worked just fine with VSR.

Also, I had a Samsung C70 whatwasit, which was a 1440p/144Hz screen (replaced it with my current 4K screen, because of dead pixels.), and 4K@144Hz worked just fine too on my current Vega 64, about a year ago.
