hey so i like these topics mostly because they bring back good memories so its fun. hope this one will go well too.. i think 3 is the right number for this topic. so feel free to share your favorite 3 missions on any game. a level\area* can also be considered as a mission, for example: Doom 2 classic last level ( the one with every monster thrown at you in waves ). il start, with my random order.. il give it a couple of days before il post another 3. *feel free to re-post after a while more missions. - Mass Effect 2 Suicide Mission. i believe explanations aren't needed here.. this thing was insane. - Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone - Scenes From a Marriage. this is one of the most amazing, best-written, full of atmosphere missions i ever played on PC. small details* matters here.. pay attention to every painting and every movement to appreciate just how good its written. - Fallout New Vegas - last fight on Hoover Dam - this one is crazy if everyone is preset and you played your cards the right way in the game. one big explosive mission.
The iconic moment in Deus Ex when you kill the statue guard for his sub machine gun and deny all responsibility to Joseph Manderly.
Putting rdx on the walkers legs in Battlefield 2142..... I know it's not a level but that was my mission.
Both Iraq levels from SOF1, hospital in SOF2. Facing Worlds from UT'99. Indeed also the sniper mission from COD4. Shrapnel City in the psx version of Duke Nukem 3D. Basicly all levels from Quake II. Valparaiso en phenetia park from Wipeout2097, psx version.
1. No one lives forever 2 - Project Omega (several missions in Siberia) Driving with a snowscooter and sneaking into sowjet bases was awesome. Overheard conversations between guards were mostly hilarious. Whole game had the perfect mixture of action and slapstick. 2. Dark Messiah of Might & Magic The 2nd huge map started by landing on the coastline of the Temple of the skull. Further up the cliffs were narrow steps with one side open so orcs attacking you could be kicked down the cliff. Best melee combat ever. There were some great duels with archers as well. 3. HL2 - Highway 17 with the beach areas were antlions were lurking beneath the sand. Trying to build a path for yourself and buggy was actually something very unique. Never saw that sort of gameplay before HL2 introduced physics based puzzles. Good thread btw keep it coming!
If it counts, The glass house from Red Faction. When I was a kid I'd spend hours on there with my dad being mind blown at the destruction. We used to blow tunnels under the glass house from one end to the other. Just a sandbox mess around level, But I'll never forget it.
That level from HL3... HL2 Water Hazard. Awesome physics and challenging combat and enemies. Grabbing that motor boat was awesome Farcry 1 level 5 Research Diablo 2 LOD act V The music, the home land of the barbarians plagued by the Baal's hordes. Steady advancing towards Arreat Summit while the epic music follows you while slashing every enemy you came across. Crysis 1 first levels. Awesome storyline ( albeit a bit Hollywood style) but jumping in the dark from a plane, landing on a beach and fighting enemies while the Sun rises up. Arcanum: Tarant town and side quests the dialogues are something special and unique. Witty humour and sneaky tips here and there. Max Payne : all levels (minus the dream part)
Just a few off the top of my head. Max Payne 3 - The boat level Witcher 3 - Fyke Isle Half LIfe 2 - Water Hazard
Zelda BOTW - Working with the Gorons to defeat the Beast in the volcano. Fallout 4 - Getting to the institiute and finding father. Witcher 3 - A certain boss fight can't remember name of the guy( he was a big knight) but waw it was amazing! *also some of the monsters were excellent.
I always thought the final battle between Link and Gannon in Ocarina Of Time could never be matched in it's greatness. I'm gonna have to say HellBlade blew me away, can't wait for the sequel, or prequel I think. When Senua blocks the sword and that bright blue shatter blinds the screen, that it so awesome. Reminds me of Conan The Barbarian when Valeria appears from Valhalla.
These are 3 of the first ones that come to mind from recent games. Witcher 3 - Land of a Thousand Fables There are so any great moments in Witcher 3 and the DLC (the bank level for example) but this part was hilarious and visually amazing. Wolfenstein 2 - The Audition One of the most shocking and well written/acted moments in a game. This and the execution scene will stay etched in my memory for the rest of my days. Half Life Alyx - Intro & Ending This game was just an incrdible roller coaster from start to end but the intro and final sequence blew my mind. It's the first time in as long as I can remember that I felt like gaming had truly evolved, and that's coming from someone who's been gaming since the days of the NES.
I might edit my post later on when I think of others. But for now: Star Fox (SNES) Getting into Andross' base, and after defeating him only to then then realize you have to take control back of your Arwing to get out of there as the base explodes behind you. A homage to the Dearth Star 2 "go in / go out" scene in Return of the Jedi.
The original Far Cry and some Call of Duty open terrain and jungle missions (without science fiction). Also all the action levels from Max Payne 2.
the dearth corridor in mgs4. gimmic but effective one. the edge quake 2. the pitt in guild wars i think it was called huge mining area very cool to explore. opening area/map in crysis. probably come up with tons more if i really put my brain to it but there a few.
Oh "scenes from a marriage" really got to me ! It is without a doubt the most a game has ever emotionally overwhelmed me.
