Maybe. But anything else (RDR2, GTA5, KDC, Control, Metro Exodus, Superposition bench etc) runs flawlessly even manually OCed.

my understanding is that no mans sky is quite erattic with its framerate and gpu loading beyond pascal, you can have stability related crashes through a less than perfect GPU or even PSU that isn't handling the usually under 1ms spikes.

Apex Legends profile in most recent GRD's have "NVIDIA recommended" under Image Sharpening.

Aren't these values the same as being "Off" though?

Do you happen to have HAGS enabled?
Off is off :) But those are default values when it's not active/greyed out, yeah.
Even if you set sharpen to 0.00 but have it set to On, it will still apply sharpening to your image.

    Nope.

Also tested on a clean OS install.

Doesn't happen all the time but it will at some point, usually when it does happen there might be a video error on the site for example Facebook.

Noticed this issue with the 2 recent drivers.

No such thing on my prehistoric 980ti & FF, but I'm still on win10 v1909, if that matters.

So far it's ok'ish driver, nothing unusual to report yet, Desitny2 still has that new map loading section hickups, but guess I will have to live with that.

RED got fixed by itself. Or more likely by Youtube who broke it.

Since your on a older version of windows doesn't mean there isn't a problem.

Since i upgraded from my 1080ti to my new 3080 while video playback with VLC, MPC-HC, Chrome, Firefox... from time to time i get a driver reset (up to 20sec to recover).
Testet all drivers .38 .55 now on .71
    All my games run flawless.

Have to quote another user with similar problem:

"Same issue here, only I am using Firefox.
If I play a video on youtube or a movie on Netflix the screen goes black for about 10 seconds and then recovers.
In event viewer i get the same error with "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
My video card is an RTX 3080 and the latest nVidia 456.71 Driver. Uninstalling this one and installing 456.55 does not fix the issue. Did not tried older ones until now with this video card
There are no issues whatsoever while playing any games.
Before this i had an GTX 1080 with 442.74 installed and no display driver crashing or any other issues while playing any kind of video."

    Edit:
another guy reported that it seams to be a problem with the P8/P5 States...

video decoding TDR's are caused by bus errors, remove any pcie risers, consider replacing the cpu if its a 9 or 10 series intel or 3x series ryzen.

have seen prior history of 10 series working fine on a 9900k but 2080 would crash in various tasks - the user had replaced everything but the cpu.

numerous cases of navi tdr's on gen 4 enabled zen 2 are also noted.

PCIE controller not ruled out, sorry, can't do that without swapping the cpu.
