So I got a gaming PC a little while ago (specs at bottom) but haven't upgraded my monitor with it. I'm looking at 1440 monitors right now and I'm wondering how important/good G-Sync is. From what I've heard the policy with G-Sync is if you have the money get it. Is it really worth the 100-150$ premium for G-Sync if I'm running games like Rainbow 6 Siege, Destiny 2, and Modern Warfare? Is it going to be a good investment for future games like Cyberpunk?

    Thanks for reading!

You can use AMD FreeSync monitors on Nvidia cards which will give you nearly the same experience at a cheaper price, although a few FreeSync monitors may not work all that well.

Here's the one I use which is working great with my GTX 1080 in forced G-SYNC Compatible mode: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-VG270UP-Freesync-Monitor-Widescreen/dp/B07K8SHDDB

Even when FPS dips below 60, G-SYNC keeps everything very smooth without any tearing. I'm definitely happy that I bought my FreeSync monitor.

    Some others:

If you want 100% guarantee that it works, you can view a list of G-SYNC Compatible monitors at:
    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/

Choose G-SYNC Compatible in the Type dropdown box to see a list of G-SYNC Compatible monitors which are cheaper than the regular G-SYNC and the much more expensive G-SYNC ULTIMATE monitors.

If OP is not a B?O?T? then G-sync/Freesync is the only way to play games.

Proper High Dynamic Range (HDR) is the one to buy but can be on the expensive side.
    I own several G-sync/Freesync monitors from 60Hz-165Hz.

My favorite is 4K 65" OLED with HDR and G-Sync Vertical Refresh Rate (VRR) works over HDMI on Nvidia card.

Also here is a searchable list of over 800 Freesync monitors.Just pick you resolution and make sure you have Low framerate compensation,(LFC) so you can set 30Hz on low end of Freesync range with Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)

Informative thread post! It is helpful and I have a query that I want to use AMD freesync on my ViewSonic XG270QG(https://viewsonic.com/me/products/lcd/XG270QC.php) gaming monitor which is Nvidia G Sync compatible. How to do that?

Gsync and a 144hertz monitor is awesome. Very smooth gameplay. Worth every penny.

I think I am wrong because I was not aware about that g sync only would work on nvidia graphics card. So, AMD is not the solution then. Nvidia will be my partner. Phew!
