i7 2600K ---> Ryzen 3600 upgrade?

Hi..
today I have i7 2600K 4.3ghz, ddr3 2133Mhz 16 gb, rx 570 4gb, fullHD 144Hz Fsync monitor (new, i don't want to change to higher resolution now)…. does it make sense to upgrade to Ryzen 3600 and keep the RX 570 for now? I looked at the benchmarks and there is a significant increase in fps 1% and 0.1% .. the average fps there is around +20-30% .. in the future I would need to change the graphics to some 8 gb at least .. I think it would probably worth it? I can buy for 450 USD new Ryzen platform (CPU + ram + board) minus about 180 USD from salling the current (CPU + ram + board) .. Thx

 

I rather wait. New CPUs ahead, prices will drop(or not, but more variety).

 

Prepare to invest in faster RAM too (3600Mhz at least CL16 or less) otherwise it will decrease fps performance (both min and max fps).

That's fine, better than 2133Mhz, but price difference between 3200 vs3600 Mhz is pretty negligible.

 

What Mobo you recommend ? For decent OC .. some midrange

 

unlike the good old i7 2600k the new ryzens are all already more or less at top speed aka not much more as 200 mhz and much more power consumption which stands in no relation to the performance gain are about the best you will see when you OC it

 

Min b450 tomahawk max, better b550 tomahawk.

 

I upgraded from a 2500K to my current 2700X with my GTX970 - difference was night and day, so totally worth it! But like the rest said - just wait for the Ryzen 5000-series before you buy

 

I wouldnt.
I bought a 3600 to tied me over when I thought I'd killed my 6700K, which then sprang back to life.

The 3600 doesnt overclock for squat, it barely reaches rated clocks unless you get a gold sample.
And its definitely slower than the 6700K for gaming. It might benefit a few games that use more than 8 threads but I dont play any of those.
I cant put a % difference on it soz, I can give it another go when my 3080 gfx card finally arrives, but that could be a month.
The 3600 can be found sort of cheap ish, but you arent going to get much of a boost over the 2600K compared to the lower end new Intel CPUs (none K), they are very quick, easily besting my 6700K.

If you cant wait, get a 10600, 10700 or something around that.
If you can wait, see what Zen 3 is like.

 

What potato motherboard are you using? My 3600 is doing 4.4GHz on all cores easily.

Thats my point, there are some gold samples and even they dont clock much.
I'm using the Asus ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming which is one of the better boards, well reviewed as a decent overclocking board.

I would probably aim for an 8core cpu instead. You'll need it this gen.

 

If you're referring to consoles it'll probably be the same as last gen. 2 cores reserved for background tasks and OS.
And rarely does console core use transfer with the pc ports anyway.

 

Think about. Your pc also have background tasks, apps, os and browser with 50tabs. And if your streaming 16 threads becomes useful. Im not one of those users who closes everything when go into the game.

 

There's definitely scenarios where more cores help, but I still wouldn't say it's needed. Hell, just look at the 3300x. With some overclocking and fast memory you can make that sucker fly. And it's only quad core.
And if this guy decides to stream he can always use VCE instead of cpu.
