I think it's mostly luck really. A friend of mine found his gf online as well within 1 week of joining the site. She was really careful though, they only met after chatting for months. Me i had to deal with old ladies in their 50ies trying to get a 30+ guy with hobbies like 'being in the garden' or 'baking cake'. Add all those fake profiles of bots or girls who actually don't want to date and just want to boost their egos. After a while i just made cost/result analysis and came to the conclusion it's not worth it. The juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Good thing i'm an introvert and can be happy (enough) with my pc hobby and the band i need to write songs for.
Maybe on the wrong type of sites, you can usually filter the matches / results to suit, yea they can lie but when you meet them it'll be obvious, plus you would usually want to speak on cam first to make sure they're not a 56 year old lorry driver called Bert
sod *SPAM* get yourself a cat and a fleshlight. cats costs less and dont moan. google fleshlight if you dont know.
I don't have that many experiences with Online *SPAM*, but try to stay smart and doublecheck the person. People tend to use pictures from pinterest to create a well looking fake profile. Especially on tinder. So be aware of those ones!
