Hi, I have new lg monitor with HDR support. I enabled HDR in windows 10 settings and it works. I tried sotor for example. But: 1. When I disable HDR in windows 10 settings I'm not able to enable it in games. This is normal? 2. When I play any game, even with no HDR support, like tomb Raider from 2013 I see HDR white bubble in the right upper corner from monitor osd. So I have fake HDR or this is error? 3. When I enable HDR in rdr2 game settings picture is Grey and washed out. When I disable HDR picture is OK again and I have HDR white bubble pop up in right corner. I don't understand what's going on. Thanks for help
HDR on a PC monitor is still a mixed bag. Some games might support it well and some games are totally broken. I got an HDR mointor a few months ago and only a couple out of the many games I've tested only adopt to it well which are Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and A Plague Tale Innocence. Watching movies etc, it looks great. So yeah, it's nothing on your end.
Some games will activate HDR automatically without the need to manually switch it on in Windows such as Doom Eternal, Sekiro, Devil May Cry 5, RE2/RE3 Remake, Destiny 2 and many more. Other games require that you activate HDR manually first before running the game for HDR to activate, for example in Shadow of the Tombraider, Ori and the Will of Wisps, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and more. Tombraider 2013 does not support HDR on the PC. Yes I understand. But In RDR2 when I enable HDR in game picture is grey and washed out. Looks like when I press on i get different effect. I don't understand what's going on. In tomb Raider 2013 I have HDR bubble popup from monitor osd. Why? This game don't support HDR. Also I have popup to use oryginal display port cable from the box. I already use it. So I think something is wrong. When I tried HDR in assetto corsa with shader patch it looks like this:
