I would like to know what shader model my gpu has, I am using GPU-Z and I see shader model 5.0. I looked at my gpu specs here, https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-960.c2637. It shows shader model 6.4. I have a Gigabyte GTX 960 OC 2gb and would like to know if I have shader model 6.4. What shader model does my gpu have?. Some help would be good.
Your GTX 960 can support the latest shader model 6.5 if the rest of your system meets the requirements. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Level_Shading_Language#Pixel_shader_comparison Unfortunately since you're still using an ancient OS, you're stuck with shader model 5.0.
I have Windows 10 x64 and would like to know how to be able to use the latest shader model for my gpu. And what is 12on7?, I hope you can help me.
Also I am fixing my gpu for playing Cyberpunk 2077, I am waiting for the game to come out and I am getting my pc ready.
You just need to have an up to date Windows 10 and a somewhat recent driver. Kepler has (600/700 series) reported Shader Model 6.5 on Win10 2004 since a few months ago, so the GTX 960 is no problem for that. 12on7 is what they call using DX12 on Win7, no relevance if you're already using Win10. Though if you're upgrading only for Cyberpunk, I'd at least wait until the game is out and we have benchmarks to go by.
