In this review we benchmark the GeForce RTX 3080 from ASUS, yes this is a board partner card that has been customized. It should offer close to reference performance, good acoustics as well as a nice aesthetic design. All priced reasonably, we hope.

The cooling performance is very good on this one.

I mean - in the next MSI review, it's 10c difference. Is this correct? TUF coolers used to be trash, but I do hope they have improved them.

ASUS did a solid one on cooling here. MSI can get there as well with that whopper of a cooler, but they deem 70c acceptable (which it is of course), however went for sheer and total silence. It's a choice.

Thanks for asking this question - I was also baffled! 62C is mind blowing and like Cryo said a huge difference. But way lower temps also seemed to translate to higher clocks, the TUF was sitting at a stable 1980 while the Trio was at 1930 if i remember correctly. Do you feel that the sound profile on the TUF was quite loud or annoying?

I have the 2080 Gaming X Trio and I had to set a custom fan curve since I feel the default one is too focused on silence making the GPU run pretty hot.

Also makes me wonder how great the Strix will be if the TUF cools this well.

Damn, never seen such blue thermal imaging pics of the card. Probably coolest of any cards reviewed.

Yeah, ASUS did their homework alright. They brought TUF towards a new level.

If only 3080 had more VRAM. Regardless, will be waiting for AMD cards - let's see what will come out then (and along the way).

But this is definitely a solid choice. Great work ASUS.

Well considering the crap show today I’m glad I was able to order one last week from BH Photo. Though it doesn’t seem worth the extra $100 and who knows how long it will be until they ship me one.

Wonder why they didn't goose the stock boost a bit with that cooling performance. Saving it for the Strix?

Most likely. The Strix cooler looks exactly the same.

Is there any physical difference between OC and this default model?

Or does the OC just have different bios with slight overclock.

Would it possible to add two games and their respective game engines for these new DX12-heavy engines?

Hitman 2/3 (Glacier Engine, levels have tests/benchmarks one can run)
Horizon Zero Dawn (Decima Engine, also used for Death Stranding, but HZD is 'prettier' and appears to run HDR better)

    Thx!

when do we get the 3090 reviews, ill wait for it to decide on my buy, the 3080 performance is very impressive, makes me wonder if i should get that considering i sold my 2080ti for the price of the 3080 6 weeks ago, the 3090 will cost twice the 3080, im wondering if its worth it
