The higher the required fps, the more the CPU matters.
At 4K you wont care so much what CPU you have unless you use a 4K120 display.
    It should be fine.

However, every game is different, it remains to be seen how CPU dependent Cyberpunk is.
Its wise to hang on and see if an upgrade is needed, no point jumping the gun.
I anticipate there wont be an issue on the CPU side at 60fps max.

Sounds like you and your brother should have got some advice before getting his PC to begin with, that CPU and GPU combo is rarely gong to do anything like that FPS at 1080p. 4k 60FPS then yea that 3070 is a minimum. Most top games moving forwards are going to work best with 8 cores regardless of what resolution you play at, his has 6 cores and 6 threads and probably isn't overclocked and yet wants to spend £500+ on a gpu and play 4k60 fps. I'd suggest thinking about what budget you have and what you want from a realistic point of view.

Either way, wait till there's benchmarks to see what the 3070 does vs the 3080 at 4k in a normal spread of games, theres too many variables which you haver not supplied the info to

Well, i´m the first to admit i´m positively surprised by the prices of the 3070 and 3080. I thought they they were going to be much higher after the 2000 series. But i remain skeptical about the performance increases so i´m gonna wait for reviews to see how much of it is true.

Still the 3070 seems a very decent card but the memory capacity kills it for me and the same question remains about the 10Gb of the 3080. I find it strange that the cards are as good as Nvidia says when they skipping on the memory like this...

Also, is the core count real or some marketing gimmick to make the cards seem much more powerful that they really are??? And why didn´t Nvidia disclosed the number of ROPs, texture units, RT and TC??? Are they afraid that something doesn´t add up?...

Now, i´m gonna eagerly wait for Hilbert´s review. And in case wants to share some info, by all means.

Also, i think we should spare a moment of silence to mourn all the buyers of the 2000 series...*

*No joking inteded, we all have been "raped" one way or another by some hardware company...

Considering the 2080ti is now slower than the 3070 at $500, then yes.
Those bought 2070S last few weeks have lost over 60% of their value.

I bought a 2070S couple weeks ago, already got full refund from amazon, i'd choose amazon over any online retailer just for their no-hassle returns.

It’s not a matter of being real or not, I think Nvidia is somewhat reviewing the term of what a Cuda Core is with the introduction of these new shaders. I don't think it will be directly comparable to the Cuda Cores of the previous generation.

Anyway, soon we should have it all dissected.

AMD watching the stream like 'Oh Hell! no!'.
What's the best for AMD here, compete against 3070 then 3070ti gets released?

These prices are good. Too good, especially considering the supposed supply issues. Nvidia knows something about their competition, whether that be AMD or Intel. The 3090 is obviously going to be way better than the competition, but $500 for something that beats a 2080Ti? As enticing as that price point is (I'm sure it'd be a great 4K GPU), I'm certainly not going to rush to make a purchase.

Easy there money bags :). I really hope it is not 1100 with 16GB VRAM and 10% less CUDA cores. Jokes aside, IIRC, I hope it would be like 1080ti launch where they drop 1080 by 50 bucks (from 700 to 650), and launch 1080ti at 800.

    I wish us all luck.

Get real 2080ti isn't something hard to beat which is a 3070 as it seems. The best AMD will fight against 3080, like Radeon VII vs 2080. Perhaps even better, that's why 3080 price is good vs 3090. Who knows, biggest navi could beat 3080 not just 3070 and be the middle solution below 3090.

Hoping AMD release a card as pleasantly surprising as these have been.

Haha, I'm not up for wasting money.
But I expect a mid range card between the Titan (effective) and the highest end standard card be nearer to middle pricing of the two rather than +20% of the difference.
$1100 is mid price between them, I suggested it will be nearer this. Perhaps a bit lower but not $850.

8nm samsung, this screams 3xxx super next year which is simply 7nm tsmc and thus higher clock. Unless a huge deal comes by I don't see myself looking twice at this generation.

is it really double the CUDA cores or just the cuda cores doing double calculations that bloated it to 2x CUDA cores?
