Hello everyone I bought a 3440x1440 100hz monitor with freesyinc, i got a 5700XT and 3700X. The problem is that in games i have a lot of flickering, i put a max of 100fps in RTSS but problem persist... Also tried to put a limit of 60 fps and i have flickering too. The only way to fix my problem is creating a custom resolution in AMD Software with 105/110hz, when i do that flickering disappear. Problem of custom resolution with more HZ = Color depth change from 10 to 6BPC and i cant change it when i use more HZ than the native. Can someone explain me that? Why the hell i cant play normally in my monitor with my native 100hz? Thanks and sorry about my english
Does VRAM clock down with 100Hz? If yes, try a custom resolution with reduced vertical back porch timings via CRU, which should make the VRAM run constantly at high clock. This is not optimal, but might be your only option.
Ye... I tried to disable freesync in monitor options and ... zero flickering. I really cant understand whats happening there... Tried too 8 or 6BPC with 100hz and didnt work (lot of flickering)
I take it the monitor is just regular freesync/gsync and not certified in any way? Did you adjust the VRR range at all as this can cause flickering as well. What FPS does the flicker happen as it's normally at the lower end, say around 40-30 in my tests. But it can also happen higher. One last thing. Does your monitor have multiple Freesync modes (such as Ultimate) does it happen regardless? Firstly I'd try reset-all with CRU and reboot.
Yes, its a VA Panel. Monitor is this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANTGAMER-M34G5Q-inch-UWQHD-Pixels/dp/B07X35886M There's anything that i can do to try to solve problem? Now i did what the other user said (disable freesync) and its working fine without flickering.
VA panels flicker on sudden, abrupt fps changes. I get it a lot when I am in game menus, or on load screens, but not much during gameplay. Nothing you can do about it, except switch to IPS.
I noticed it too and i have a VA panel in my Monitor But i think it got worse the newer the drivers are (or in some release amd broke something and didn't fix it until now) Thats why i've disabled Freesync in my my monitor, it's really anoying and causes headache
When I get annoying flicker, I Ctrl-Alt-Win-B and the quick reset fixes it for me. Easier than turning it off/on.
just so someone else doesn't misconstrue this post, no it doesn't reset the driver - it forces a mode-swap to recreate the swap chain.
I tryed with and without afterburner, its the same :/ 1 curious thing, after i disabled freesync in monitor options i never had anymore a single BSOD or crash, my PC was crashing for last 2 months for no reason... could have been the freesync the reason of random crashes?
My monitor is 75Hz freesync, I would get flickering if I used 75Hz, for me the fix was using CRU to edit the 75Hz setting and reducing the vertical blanking, for my monitor I went from 54 to 53. The vertical blanking is monitor dependent, so your numbers will differ, but if you chose to try this reduce it by 1 at a time, the post where I originally got this from was on CRUs forums and the poster had to reduce his vertical blanking by 3 to get the flickering to stop.
I think i fix my problem. With CRU, i overclocked monitor from 100hz to 101hz, and problem disappear. The difference between CRU and AMD Custom resolution (overclock hz) its that with CRU i can still have 10bpc, with AMD custom resolution i only can have 6bpc. For now it fix the flickering. I really cant understand why increasing 1hz fix all the problems of flckering, it's really weird.
