American computer scientist Russell Kirsch has died at the age of 91, ABC News reports . He invented the 'pixel' and scanned the first digital photo.... Inventor of the pixel passes away at the age of 91
This is kind of news I'd like to know more about. Never heard of this man, but without him, the world probably won't be the same. RIP
I hope he didn't really regret square pixels and it's just something he liked to say to make conversations interesting.
He looks like a bright and fair fella. Thank you Sir. Rest in Pixels my friend. And thanks Hilbert for the note about this man. Never heard about him, yet hes one of the giants who has the nowadays world on his shoulders.
I don't think I knew pixels were invented that far back. Well, he wouldn't have to regret it too much:
Much of modern computing was invented during this time and even before as WW2 raged on. The term "computer" as far as I know was derived from a PERSON whom did computations. This is why some of the first programmers were females whom were math wizards selected out of high school and college while the men were out fighting the war. We owe much to the men and women of that generation. Here is a good movie about it. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1587359/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
R.I.P. Less end less ppl like this guy. And progress seems to be somewhat slower now, I mean, guys, y 2020 we should have like flaying cars, or some electrical battery charged on 1 minut or just swappable source of energy for them, but... But we have covid instead. Blah... Almost all is invented, then adopted, and evolved from old ideas. At least this is what I feel like.
There is plenty of advancement. I think among the big revolutions (as in changing the lifestyle of many people in the world) we can count mobile devices and wearables in general during the last decade. In the upcoming one, I'd wager self driving vehicles and other outcomes of AI tech. I'm sure there are many important advancements that are specific to certain fields but one must be knowledgeable in that domain to understand them.
Instead of pushing pixels he is pushing daisies. RIP. It was upon your shoulders modern technology got its first start at life. We will forever be in your debt.
Petroleum companies are too powerful in politics and will never let alternative energy sources threaten their bottom line unless they can monetize it in a similar fashion.
