Its just a natural progression of the gameplay. The first game in this trilogy was more linear, with just arenas to fight in and then move to the next. Much in the same vein as Painkiller games. The second tried semi open world with a hub area and for many it didn't quite gel well and became repetitive as you had to back track alot. Now this game moves back to the more linear level based routes but it has to evolve upon it and not just be another arena shooter with a quirky story line and characters. Sure this is obviously heavily influenced by other games like Doom but who cares it just adds more depth to the game and they seem to be taking what worked in those games and using it to the games benefit. I for one can't wait to see more of this game and shall be purchasing it day one.
i think I tried equipping every weapon just to see but this game should be played with swords+damage conversion.period.
I think playing the first game with the sword only would become incredibly tedious and frustrating with the boss fights. Though, I love SW 2013. SW2... I have problems with. Which is why I'm glad SW3 is dropping pretty much everything 2 "tried" and is going back to the first game's setup.
they should add some incentive to using gun+melee combo cause in sw2 guns ran out of ammo pretty quickly and swords were better altogether. like consecutive melee hits increasing shotgun damage for cool finishers.or firerate increase when an enemy is under ice/fire influence gonna be a day1 purchase like dying light 2
Like my friend said "everything is so colorful and very Doom like" unreal engine really differs from SW2 but gameplay feels smooth and fast. Idk will try to finish it with melee only but some guns looks really cool. They used grappling hook so much but where is the dash? It was such a huge part of the second game. Or im blind.
Dash was shown a lot in last years gameplay reveal. This year... is kind of lackluster. The footage looks great, and I'm super excited for the game. But, we didn't see anything new at their showcase. They seem to be skipping all story and level exploration in favor of just straight up action/combat for their trailers. Which, action looks great, but... story, character... exploration... I'm interested in those.
