AMD Radeon Adrenalin Edition 20.5.1 driver download & Discussion

Im hoping 20.7.1 will come with many fixes.

We also have some new games this month.

 

I hope 20.7.1 will have the HAGS support too. Would suck if they release it and keep the HAGS on a separate and older fork.

 

HAGS or other new-gen features will not come in pre-RDNA gpus by the time RDNA2 is in production. Be more realistic, stop spamming/trolling by selling false hope.

guys I have the latest win 10 ver May 2004, installed 20.5.1 for my rx 5700xt and i still dont have an option for Graphics Hardware Scheduling

i'd like to point out that HWS doesn't turn of even though you turn it off in windows. i tried to turn it off but vr is still a stuttery mess.

@JonasBeckman do we have the latest vulkan version in 20.5.1?

Im waiting for 20.7.1 maybe with an updated version because Path Of Exile implemented vulkan - and have some bugs at the moment.

Anybody here on the Vanguard program?

 

I think 20.5.1 uses 1.2.132.2 whereas the WSL driver and the newer code branch it's on goes up to 1.2.139.0 so a bit behind the most recent SDK but it usually takes a while for these to land in the driver due to testing.
Still bundling the 1.2.132.2 Vulkan runtime though but as it's backwards compatible I usually just install the latest one manually from the Lunar website they have for that. (And the SDK but only the runtime itself is needed not the full development kit.)

There's a few newer extensions but as there's no info on which of these AMD supports nor any entries on bug fixes so other than what landed in 140 and newer I don't have much insight into which of these the WSL driver supports or if they've fixed bugs like that one ReShade ran into with the compiler or if that is still a unresolved issue. (1.2.142.2 as the current latest compiled version for the runtime and SDK on Windows outside of building from the latest source directly through the Github repository for Vulkan.)


Still mainly running through DXVK here, usually it's faster and tends to be more compatible far as crashes go but not every game is 100% with this method and Windows itself is more of a extra than officially supported though it's really helped but the driver situation has slowly improved and now compatibility is at least looking pretty good though the performance situation could still improve further.

 

There's also the Q2 mobile driver at version 27.20.3000.5000 instead of 27.20.2001.5003 which the WSL driver has but it's for err Picasso and Raven I think those were called?
(May 22nd so a bit older date wise but a newer versioning number.)

And naming wise...well that driver supports R1000 platform and the V1000 platform with the names of..

Plus Polaris dGPU.
These names get funnier every time it seems.



Or yeah Picasso / RV2 and Raven from the other names a bit below on specific supported models.
(For Polaris DGPU that's some of the E8000 series named Venus, Strato and Amethyst.)

 

Just a heads up folks, anyone on older hardware like me with an R9 Fury, I've had serious stability issues with the June 10 edition of 20.5.1 - I've had black screen crashes and I believe my card was overheating (as at one point the PC failed to boot up afterwards). I have since rolled back to May 27 edition 20.5.1 and no longer have the stability issues (or overheating).

 

Windows 2004 and RX 580 with WDDM 2.7 here with these drivers.

 

2 Days for F1 2020.
6 Days for Death Stranding.

New driver is close im guessing..i hope it got many fixes.

 

So we should expect yet another Friday release.

 

Keep an eye for a fan profile my 580 still dont keep custom profiles on boot. Besides no other issues. 2004 and 20.5.1.

 

I don't even use custom fan profiles at all, let it do its own thing - definitely confirmed now though, the June Drivers are dangerous for my card... :/
