The lighting difference is just non ray tracing (2018) versus raytracing (2020) mostly i think. But they updated the texture and some 3D models revamped.
The game was never shown with Ray Tracing before (well we only had few screenshots), that's why the scene are given a more natural look at light.

Wish we had a ray tracing versus non ray tracing of the 2020 trailer.

Biggest difference is in lower rendering resolution in 2018 video and missing specular maps for many materials.

I enjoy seeing videos like this showing just how new builds compare to earlier versions. Cannot wait for next gen hardware to run this in all its Ray Traced glory.

That did happen with the Witcher 3, but certainly not in this case. The 2020 build looks much better.

I think you can be fairly sure CDPR/Nvidia will put something like that out.

FFS, what's with the blurry blue filter?! It's like Battlefield 3....

Can definitely see an uplift in detail but then a lot of it gets masked with this awful blurry-blue post-processes filter :'( Hope it'll be possible to turn this off.

All can say that the game looked like crap in the 2018 version and all they accomplished with the look currently is make it darker. The lighting has a softer feel to it but that is it. Appears they are going for a gritty, dark story. Seems everyone feels to have a edgy story it currently needs to dark. If the gameplay is good, will be easy to overlook the artistic choice.

(blueish chromatic aberration) I think it suits it more, old version was too light and felt a bit cartoony.

I just wish it wasn't blurry... If I wanted things to be blurry, I'd take my glasses off... If it's not something that can be checked on or off, definitely going to look into modding it out...

Personally I am not a big fan of cyan look of the 2020 version, I prefer the more neutral tone of 2018, maybe less cinematographic but more realist and more punchy IMHO. Won't stop me buying this (if it's good), a quick LUT adjustment in reshade and the problem is gone. Recently I've been doing this quiet often.

exterior global ilumination looks worse in my opinion, also some polygons were reduced and the ilumination at 2:18 looks like a downgrade
