There were also some screenshots. Taken from here: https://www.resetera.com/threads/demons-souls-remake-screenshots.225022/ Which links to this: https://www.vg247.com/2020/06/11/demons-souls-remake-ps5-reveal/ It's the knightly dude with a pointy metal stick again. And it also looks really fancy! EDIT: Since that trailer looked like some CGI teaser, screenshots look pretty impressive tho but then this is a new console gen so many of the reveals have been quite nice of what little I've watched so far. Wonder what Elden Ring will look like far as From and "Souls" type games go but well Year 2 overall for that matter once some familiarity with these devices set in as per usual with console cycles. (Mario 1 on the NES -> Kirby and such.) Well guess we'll see, guess some actual info on what the game will contain is also going to be needed what with some of the mechanics and things like world tendency and other tweaks as the game is getting I assume more than just fancier graphics but will things be kept, changed or removed. We shall see.
Looked pretty cool to me. Might be a console selling title if it's exclusive to the PS... if not, others might still get a great souls like game.
damn that looks dark now! I wonder if it has the same mechanics , eg. the thing that makes the worlds dark/white and you can unlock if you play good or bad.
The comparison images through Reddit has the new version look a bit more blue tinted (And significantly more detailed just like the above welcoming players to the tutorial!) but I yeah wonder if there could be some modifiers towards tendency too although I guess the various spawns and other changes will be a bit telling as players head towards pure dark or pure light tendency ha ha. EDIT: And will the obligatory swamp area have slowdowns or not. Well it might just slow down player progression, about the same thing minus the problematic framerate. EDIT: There was also a edited image trying to get the new look closer to the original but once there's more in-game footage we will see how this new take on the game looks in motion and not just static screenshots and this early showcase footage. https://i.redd.it/8czy9zdojd451.jpg EDIT: And the comparison footage is this. https://i.imgur.com/dPxhd7G.png RPCS3 I presume. https://i.imgur.com/w33go52.jpg and https://i.imgur.com/BtK8ohR.png Also through RPCS3 and emulation. https://i.imgur.com/unP78K1.jpg Emulation clears up a lot compared to the native resolution the game was running under on PS3 but the remake has added a massive amount of detail to these areas. Hmm the colder blue look isn't bad though, suppose it will also be enhanced further through support of HDR which I expect will be seeing some use too when available on compatible displays.
I never had framerate problems with the original really , except the lava area was bugged. some kind of memory leak, it ran fine, then at a certain point (after dying a few times) , things became unbearable slow. But if you would restart the game at the same point, everything was great again. really weird. I actually broke a ps3 controller because of this (throwing against the wall hack)
Maybe that was more of a issue for Blight Town in Dark Souls and less for the Plague Swamps or what they were. Oh those things are going to look great in the remake I guess ha ha, plus all the other wondrous creatures the game had. (Or Dark Souls before more humanoid enemies took a greater stage in the later installments, plus dogs, always some type of dog heh.)
Talk about a cheap blow from Sony, now i´m going to have to buy this game (again). Cheaper than this only an hot babe getting naked... I hope the game brings the unreleased area of the fifth broken stone.
The game appears to have some amount of unused content so if the team working on this at Bluepoint is working with From they could implement some of it but I suppose that's not very likely unless From themselves are doing it and they're on Elden Ring and 3 or 4 other projects as I recall. No idea if new From Software and their team would keep similar design ideas and concepts as back when Demons was made or if the entire added content would just feel "off" or how to call it, like something from the later games instead or not entirely there or what to say. Some of it might have ended up in Dark Souls too, at least one design looks like a proto version of the happy snakes of Seaths Fun House.
that looks pretty cool. armor and bow and arrows. they are pretty basic in DS, this seems to have more detail to them.
