Sony reveals its new PlayStation 5 Design

God dang it's fugly ! And i am willing to bet that it will either have thermal issues, or have super loud fans, when they have made it as thin as they have, given the new hardware.

Looking forward to see what PS5 can offer for the price of budget PC.

 

My bias? I think it offers brilliant value for the money... but i think they should have worried more about cooling, and less about athestetics (which imo are really fugly, but that is entirely subjective ofc)

 

PS5 looks like it has only vertical orientation. As it looks like it is going to waddle in horizontal orientation due to curvature.
XSX is just a brick, but it has thought put into this brick design and it is style in itself... including various visual details.

So shape design yells: "style" with PS5, and "substance" with XSX.

 

Series X looks so much better and people ware making fun of it. Lets see how they will react with this abomination. Even that pizza holder developer kit was looking better than this.

 

What a beautiful console! I really like the design. The curves, painted white and black with blue accents/lights. It may be the prettiest console yet. And the controller looks great, too.

I'm not sure how functional it is compared to the Xbox Series X design, though, especially in regards to cooling. I'm not sure if these relatively thin vents up top are enough to exhaust all the heat. And can you even put it down horizontally (without compromising cooling)? It seems rather thin and high. Then again, the PS5 hardware isn't quite as powerful as the Series X and should be able to throttle to keep thermals in check, so I guess we'll see how this will work out.

 

I personally don't like the design either, and exclusive were mostly +1 or remake... And yes, Xbox isn't really better. Sometimes I really miss the nineties...game were cheaper to make and companies were able to take more risk.

 

I prefer traditional shapes in electronics, personally, but I don't think it looks so bad. I hope they didn't need to compromise cooling for the sake of the design, though, especially since Sony is going for higher clocks.

The new Xbox looks like a humidifier. Nothing wrong about humidifiers, though, so it's not a bad design as such.

 

I like the design, i was tired of black bricks like ps2/ps3/ps4. Best looking console after the pal snes.
ps4 was already loud with fans and everything, and the pro too. If they made the same mistake they are nuts.

 

Can't see how they didn't compromise cooling, when using such a slim case - and yeah, kinda worrying when you consider the hardware that will be inside of it. It will probably have a blower fan that will be screaming loud, and still run very hot.

I love the design of the new PS5, and i doubt it will have any cooling issues that some of you think.

 

I love the design on this one, kudos to Sony. Minimalistic and elegant.

Games wise - maybe it's me, but most of them looked really low fps. Even sub 30 in some cases. But maybe that's video compression. Time will tell.

And Demons Souls remake, awww yiiiis.

Haha, it really does remind of some kinda router. Only need some antenas.

 

Horizontal with air channels more visible.

 

The PS5 to me looks like a piece of networking equipment such as a router. Or big Nividia Shield.
