    Anyone able to answer this?

We know that the biggest issue and allowable factor in this viruses transmission are two factors

1). The virus is infectious prior to the person who has it knowing that they have it
2). That their are individuals who are asymptomatic and as such get no symptoms from the virus and as such become super infectors.

Now my understanding of how our immune system works is that typically a lot of the symptoms you get from viruses are a direct result of your body fighting off the infection. Once the virus is gone the symptoms typical pass and in most cases your body retains a degree of immunity through produced anti-bodies.

So how does this work for asymptomatic individuals. If they are experiencing no side effects from the virus, then doesn't that mean their body isn't doing anything to fight the virus off? So do they just have the virus forever or does it just mean they are lucky enough to have an immune response that does not result in any symptoms?

From what I found out, they do fight off the virus but quickly, before the virus has a chance to really take hold. This results in a low amount of T cells and no noticeable symptoms.
It is suggested that the initial viral load can play a large part in how long it takes to fight off and how severe the bodies reaction is.
ie a low viral load is easier and quicker to fight off, a high viral load can cause effects that kill.

Also reports suggest that youngsters who get an inflammation syndrome (cant remember the name now) can get it AFTER their body has fought off the virus!
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

Edit, its called Kawasaki syndrome and is apparently brand new, not found before, only brought on by Covid19 in children.

Great question The Laughing Ma, and don't think i've heard that asked before.

My less helpful and unscientific answer would just be that some people have just won the genetic lottery when it comes to certain things. I'm a short arse, but i never get sick.

Also, this is still the only forum i use and i'm happy about that as i love that this has made it to 70 pages without being locked or even gotten out of hand, and it's clear we all have different views :)

They often actually are, but symptoms can be very subtle, like a diarrhea for a day, a 37.5C fever 2 nights, a headache that goes away. The viral dose you're exposed to also matters, the immune response and how swift (yet also flexible). If you get significant initial exposure and viral replication it can overwhelm your IS and trigger a dramatic response. If you get very low exposure your IS might be able to just remove the foreign viral material very fast.
The virus is removed by a healthy body, it doesn't remain there, regardless of being considered asymptomatic. South Korea studies found that residual, non-infectious viral RNA can remain after healing and result in false positives, but it should "clean up" in time.
I'm not a specialist in infectious disease, but most superspread events seem to be either from huge gatherings (that Serie A game, the France smurf thing, the Spain 8 March thing) or from careless sick individuals like the lady from the SK church. Who was symptomatic, but she didn't care, and infected dozens, which infected hundreds more. During the disease evolution, there's a peak in viral load and shedding. Coughing and sneezing obviously contributes dramatically.

All in all, give it 3 weeks. 3-4 weeks, as sometimes the outbreak cooks slowly, for reasons that I don't fully understand (like Iraq, for example). After that, we're in for a wild ride, another one, but this time, probably without governments being able to use their power and implement lockdowns.

Once again, I am incredibly happy to not live in the "West", and be in a country where people still listen to authority somewhat and science is not yet politicized.

So ignoring genetic factors for now it's possible this virus has a sweep spot where it can infect someone to a degree that they can spread it but not so much so that they feel ill.

I had read that the viral load played a part in

a). Weather you got it and
b). How ill you got once you did get it

I wonder if as a result of this 'new normal' we will see a decrease in other viruses that transmit in a similar fashion? Cold and Flu for example with folk social distancing and washing their hands more often to prevent Covid 19 it seems logical we could see a drop off in these as well.

Ah thanks that does clarify things up quite a bit.

more unarmed whites were killed by police in 2019 then blacks
racism will not end until.... I hate to say the facts but...when blacks stop being the 1 murderers of whites in this country or of blacks might I add
    things will never be better
look up the crime FACTS blacks kill more then any other group in America
so if you were a cop you would go with the crime stats... science remember?

anyways its still not right to let them gather if others can not even open their stores because of the virus
churches still not opened in jersey but many blm protests are fine

That tag is racist. And when one takes into consideration opportunity ratio, black lives do not really matter at all to black people in comparison to how they matter to white.
And if we dare to look at criminality rate which directly indicate amount of arrests (non-friendly interaction), which police has to do on each demographics. White dude who is asked by police anything crime related is 10 times as likely to be killed by police than black one.

US leadership and public is stepping on police for so long and so hard that there is only one form of discrimination. And that's Positive Discrimination "against" black.
    - - - -
Among all those protests/riots, there were very few black people who understood this. And those should be leading their communities, political parties, ...
But who will elect politician who tells you that you are an idiot who should stop killing your neighbors?
Who will elect politician who will tell you to stop dealing drugs or stealing?

Those people rioting will definitely not do that. They did never care about a dead man... black or white. They came to destroy.
And those violent delights have violent ends. Dead policemen, dead rioters, dead bystanders.
In other words, there are those protesting. And right next to them, there are those rioting, who certainly do not care for lives of those who are just protesting.
    - - - -
And people do it in US even while disease spreads like there's no tomorrow. 23,000 infected every day. 1,000 dead every day. And they themselves help to spread it.
Any protester/rioter who is sick (even asymptomatic), is likely to infect enough people there to kill at least one of them.
Sadly, number of dead in given day/week is not as important as is number of cured versus number of newly infected.
In optimal situation, there would be no more newly infected people and virus would run its final days.

Funny how the same people who locked you up, made wearing a mask and social distancing mandatory, are being praised for opening up - worldwide Stockholm syndrome.

    @Fox2232

dont forget while this all happen US is OPEN things up... seriously the beach are open and packed and half arnt even wearing masks if it is mandatory they dont seem to be enforcing it. open area that is windy mean the particles that carry it that come out your mouth when you talk/sneeze/cough are "wee weee weeeeee" right across the beach and open area. unless they make it mandatory to wear mask out in public this is only gona get worse there seriously something wrong with people and government. and it done nothing but get much worse since US started open thing up.

and like you said there people that could have and never know cause some time THEY dont show symptoms mean while my father is like it OPEN are and ever is 10 feet apart it ok to go to beach... it worse in open area special a beach where it windy and that stuff will float in the wind.

and if they say frack just open everything up lift all restrictions and people do what ever frack they want, and it get even worse people will intern riot and protest about that.. the irony and stupidity is just amazing.
