As of 20H1 though it just restarts itself and runs in the background in suspended mode, earlier versions of Windows 10 kept it terminated but here it pops back either immediately or when opening the start menu again if you shut it down manually.
System service or rather app so no normal removal of it either and I can imagine things would break a bit if it's removed forcibly.

EDIT: It's normally in sleep mode though so shouldn't really do much even if it's left running.

With WDDM 2.7 drivers it's not laggy.

What's odd is that some people say 446.14 the start menu is not laggy, but I don't know if they are using the new Windows 10 May Update or not.

Can some one tell me the HD audio driver version on these? I am pretty good with 450.99 for graphics but the audio driver I could whine about.

I noticed colors seemed washed at normal desktop settings, not as vibrant as other drivers.
I uninstalled 446.14 and installed the Developer Beta drivers that came out today. You noticed the difference immediately so will use these for now.

Can you fill out the driver feedback form below please and mention which settings you have changed from the NVIDIA Control Panel default settings so I can file a bug? I see another user on our forums report the same issue so I need more details so that our QA team can look into this.

That's one thing I always do after installing new drivers. Anyways everything is fine with the Vulkan Developers Beta driver version 443.24.

Did update to 450.99 on Windows 10 2004 and enabled hardware scheduling and variable refresh rate, games feel smoother so far.

450.99 fixes the start menu lag in Windows 10 May 2020 update.

446.14 start menu lag fest in Windows 10 May 2020 update.

I just sent the form, no changes have been made in the control panel other than the selection 10 bit instead of 8 bit for my monitor, G-sync is enabled by default, but is also reproduced without it.

Hardware scheduling is not working yet. Not even on 450.99.

    EDIT: Incorrect, it is working.

    no they don't.

i don't believe it suspends at all, atleast i have not seen it switch from running to suspended in task manager at all.

The issue is linked to gsync windowed though, so just another windows*windowed gsync bug

Except it is and the post you have concluded that from has been interpreted incorrectly.
