I hope along with the new cards AMD has another look at the drivers. Three of my friends recently built new Ryzen PCs, just like I did, but they also got 5700s or XTs. One of them has no problems, but two have had driver woes (or at least I assume it was the driver from their talks, not a bad card).

Other than that, I really hope AMD experiences mega success with the cards, gaining market share. The situation is too unbalanced right now. It would be good if AMD gained some before Intel enters the fray as well. Otherwise I could see Intel eating away only from AMD's already small slice of the pie.

I've been waiting for summer since...last summer and now you are saying that I have to wait for autumn? :D

Can we not bring September closer without skipping summer somehow?:p

Drivers stability improved a lot lately. I had many problems at first but the last version so far is pretty stable.

This is going to be the best year to upgrade GPU's in a long time. Pretty exciting.

Probably the best Amd gpu comes.
Good to have something to pair with ryzen.

Switch to Linux - the drivers there are great today. Linux also had a rough launch but to my knowledge it's pretty stable now (I don't own one of these GPUs). Meanwhile, the drivers are only a few dozen MB, and yet they offer pretty much the same level of performance, despite the fact there are no application-specific optimizations (except a handful for multi-threaded rendering support, since that is still an experimental feature).

Yeah, but the situation with the new cards might repeat again, and AMD might need another 6 months or so to provide some decent drivers... I'd definetaly wait for the first results regarding driver quality

Haven't AMD been spouting their "new" fast card before RDNA 2 was ever in the public know how?
The amount of time it has taken them to even release a 5800XT - never emerged.
5700XT was and always has been their top card, and although it's half decent, the lies of a better card coming out never materialised.

Just seems a lot of hot air floating around AMD's GPU division right now (and for the last 6 months+)

Very excited. I've been patient. That's probably my new build. All AMD after years of using Intel/nvidia for all my personal builds. But will I actually be able to buy any of this stuff in September/October? Or paper launch?

RDNA2 has been coming since AMD released the RX5700 series. AMD never confirmed RX5800. That was an internet rumor with no validation at all. In fact, AMD never said they were releasing a faster card than the RX5700XT, using RDNA. It's been entirely unfounded rumors from questionable sources.

Rumors serve 1 of 2 purposes.
    1. To generate excitement
    2. To generate disappointment

You're an example of purpose #2 hard at work.....
AMD never stated that they would release a faster RDNA based card. AMD never announced an RX5800 series. In fact, aside from acknowledging RDNA2, AMD's graphics division has been pretty quiet about what's coming.

I wouldn't get too excited about X670 quite yet. It's never been anything but rumors. It really wouldn't make much sense for AMD to release another chipset at this point. They're better off stick with X570 and B550 since they should be moving away from AM4 next generation. The only way an X670 chipset makes sense at this point, is if AMD will release Zen4 on AM4.

A CPU is useless without a motherboard. AMD also needs to take into account the needs of the mobo makers. In the computer world it's easier to market a new product than an old one. You can bet on there being people who would even replace their X570 with an X670. That's just how it works.

Of course they will have a new chipset. I assume things like USB4, thunderbolt 3, fanless chipset cooling. It's true we don't know but its almost a given with a new generation of CPUs AMD will have a new generation of MB's.

Navi was a big disappointment for me, specially RX5500 and RX5600 that were supposed to replace Polaris but came more expensive for the same performance (RX5500).
So I got myself an old trusty RX580 and I'm happy playing my games waiting for something worth upgrading in early 2022.
