If you want to believe reddit. Real testing is needed.

Me too.. I even use it to capture 30sec clips.. although I play only very few games recently

Mk11, strange brigade (vulkan), destiny2, steep, dead by daylight, doom 2016, to name a few

it reduces the priority of non-microsoft/essential services and raises the priority of active windows as well as masking notifications.

Have always had this turned off so never had a issue with it.

Hmm, wonder why it is so hidden, should be easier to find. Maybe this fixes my problems in windows as I have system stutters from time to time.

It is in Gaming/Game mode, even Stevie Wonder could find it in two clicks. ;)

I love that Microsoft changes up the controlpanel all the time, keeps it fresh.

I always had it enabled without issues but now after i saw this thread i said to go ahead and see if it was on(had forgotten), was on but no variable refresh rate optimisation, so i enabled that and started getting stutters, will disable the VRR optimisation now and see if they go away.

it helps if you have a dualcore, but is counterproductive for something like a 2600, I've seen it first hand

I have some weird stuttering that makes no sense.

I have 75hz monitors and play say Rocket League with low-ish settings and i can see the fps counter in the top corner with V-Sync on so it pegs @ 74-75 fps but i still get stutters even while watching the fps counter which doesn't drop or even move from 75fps. My ping is low too @ 16-24ms while this is happening.

Like i said makes no sense to me. This is with game mode off btw as i never use it.

In old test it was proved that it helps in specific scenarios. Those scenarios are messy PC (lots of progs and services running) combined with limited HW resources.

My pc is always super optimized, to make up for my limited budget.

So I made the decission I have nothing to gain by enabling it. And possible unforseen issues might arise.

I made a good decission it seems.
    Well played MS. As always...

This is usually a vsync issue or just simply a engine problem. Some games dont feel smooth no matter what. ID software are usually really good at making smooth and responsive games.. contrary many games based on unreal engine never feel good to me.

I have an optimised PC with no background tasks (ty Razer cortex xd), I always used Game mode. Now I disabled it, and holly cow, even League Of Legends had stutters. I just enabled it back, cuz it really made it unplayable without. I have 6 cores, so in theory it shouldn't help me, but disabling it made it much worse. Maybe just a game issue.

Have the same issue, playing with 250fps all the time and around 8-20ms ping. It’s usually somewhat smooth but as soon as players join it gets rather stuttery for the most part while my processor is almost idling at 15% (3800X) it has either to do with the recent DX11 fork or just UE3 being UE3.

But reddit says you are wrong and it OFF is faster in games!

Why is this even being widely reported without any evidence lol

Earlier versions of Win10 had Game Mode ON by default--however, IIRC, in later versions it is turned off by default--problems were noted for quite sometime. Basically, I think, GPU vendors don't optimize their drivers for Game Mode--just Win10 standard. I've had it off for a long time--I'm currently on v2004 build 19619.1000.

I'm still not even sure what it's meant to do.
