    Come on guys, prices will be much higher this time. Covid, Mellanox acquisition , Nvidia CEO promises raises/no Job Cut, Secret 5nm... etc etc. Plus you can also add Geforce NOW to this list.

    If my gpu cost 3 times the price of a console, do i get 3 times more fun from the same games?
    Also, does the gpu comes with a couple of win rounds of cod:warzone as a bundle?
    If i wanna play one of the few rtx enaled games from time to time, can't i just play it on stadia ?
    So many questions, so few dollars and organs to sell left.

    skipped the 2080Ti which felt like when deejaying went from vinyl to cd, an half-effort, I want the real thing (mp3 mixing)

    Not to mention drain wallets with this monopoly.

    Anyways an RTX 3060 could be pretty much RTX 2080 non-super performance, if i compare the specs?

    I think a lot of people are missing the specs in the pic, it doesn't say those are the numbers they will have, it's more of: these numbers are the maximum they can go up to, again doesn't mean they will.

    If we look at the RTX3080 for example, it has the same GPU cores and Tensor Cores as a RTX Titan, which costs $2500. Now, obviously Titan has always been overpriced, but yeah.

    People seem to be surprised by the RTX 3080 Ti, again "maximum specs", x80 Ti has always been quite better than the standard x80, besides (and again "maximum specs") just because it has a lot more GPU cores it doesn't translate into double the performance, or even close.

    Let's take a moment to compare the RTX2080 and the RTX 2080 Ti:

    RTX 2080: 2944 Cores (Shader/GPU)
    RTX 2080 Ti: 4352 Cores (Shader/GPU)

    That's an increase of 57.42%

    Now let's compare these "specs":

    RTX 3080: 4608 Cores (Shader/GPU)
    RTX 3080 Ti: 8192 Cores (Shader/GPU)

    That's an increase of 56.25%

    Seems about the same as previous gen?

    Now let's compare something else:

    GTX Titan V (Volta): 5120 Cores (Shader/GPU)
    RTX 2080 Ti: 4352 Cores (Shader/GPU)

    The Titan V has more cores than a RTX 2080 Ti... it performs worse, and yes architecture, bla bla etc etc, the point is, more cores doesn't always mean better performance, let alone what people think 8192 cores vs 4608 will be lol.

    The 3080Ti would be roughly 28 TFlops, which might be Titan territory. Just for reference the RTX2080Ti is a 13.5 TFlops GPU.

    ^ Math fail, however you cut it :D

    2080 > 2080ti (2944 / 4352) = 48% more cores
    3080 > 3080ti (4608 / 8192) = 78% more cores

    2080 > 3080 (2944 / 4608) = 56.5% more cores
    2080ti > 3080ti (4352 / 8192) = 88% more cores

    Main thing that stands out is that the 3080ti has 88% more than the last Ti. And 78% more than the next card down (3080).
    I wouldnt be surprised if the 8192 cores were for the next Titan. Regardless, I think these numbers are highly suspect and no sane tech co would put that huge of a spread between the top 2 cards, esp leaving a convenient hole for the competition to fill in.

    The biggest gap has to be by RT.

    2080ti to 3080 and it's already 2x more.

    Rumors are always entertaining but in this case I'd rather wait for something official.

    However what's even more entertaining is people in this thread analyzing the crap out of this and drawing their own conclusions ^_^

    Im playing games @4K since i had a 1060, so saying "My GTX1080 is garbage for 3440x1440 Ultrawide.." is a little different than saying, "its not enough for me/my games."

    not how it works for their production. they make those x70/80/ti chips and anything not making the cut is sold as next lower grade.
    hence you have to have some production going before you get a decent amount of excess to stock stores with the smaller cards.
    not even talking about ppl not willing to wait and might go with a bigger chip.

    The RT part doesnt surprise me though, as I think Nvidia is under intense pressure to show something that can properly play RT games with the next gen cards (esp at higher res).

    If i want to play at 30-50FPS i'll just use my PS4 Pro, example: AC Origins and Odyssey, i have to tweak the settings a lot to be able to play it at 60FPS and stable.

    At this point i'm aiming for 100FPS+ and a 2080Ti outside competitive games like CSGO, Mobas etc, can't do it and even most recent AAA games it has trouble getting 100FPS, and it's 3440x1440 not 3840x2160 :(

    Agreed, with new tech you always have to start somewhere. We always knew that they would be increasing RT and tensor cores in the next generation cards.

    I don't think there is any pressure since DLSS 2.0 provides much better quality and frames than native resolutions. The next stop is likely providing the DLSS 2X rendering mode and further refinement of DLSS 2.0 for 8K resolutions.

    RT is much more than DLSS 2.0. Its the real-time global illumination part that is the main fps crippler.

    They look like believable specs... except the RT3080Ti which won't be 8k cores, 256 RT cores even with a die shrink to 5nm that core is going to be beyond massive will need 512bit bus and with all that it's going to need a massive PCB bigger than than Strix Cards as the memory module need to be close to the GPU to maintain signal integrity. Forget the 3080Ti specs that is clearly fake and is physically not possible with current fabrication while keeping the PCB size as it is for OEM'sand and keep within the ATX spec

    I could see maybe 5k cores and 192 RT cores on 5nm still they will be pushing tbh and the yields will be terrible so that will be atleast $2000 minimum.

    Why not? GPU performance scales pretty much perfectly with core count, because their workloads like core counts as much as it does frequency; as long as there isn't another bottleneck on the card.
    In the theoretical 3080 Ti's case you're losing 12.5% clocks for 78% more cores. That's going to be as much extra performance as it sounds, about 55%.
