Crytek is teasing a new version of Crysis. In a showcase video, the developer shows games made with the CryEngine in the past decade. At the end, images of Crysis from 2007 come along. An older video ...

crysis 1-2-3 remakes yes at their time they were "omg" just like the original far cry was "groundbreaking" at it's time, the water was awesome, you could see enemies super far away, large open maps etc...something that seems normal today but really wasn't before them
and while I'm in a dream world what I really really want would be
an AVP 2000 and AVP2 remakes especially the 2000 one which was the best closest experience you'll ever have to a space marines, aliens were super hard to see and fast very very fast, loved it and still play it once in a while but the 3D is borderline psx era (aka awful)

I always liked Crytek and their technology, but, I never liked their games.

    I never ever finished this:

I just always thought it kinda sucked as a game, but, I interestingly believe that, this game pushed PC tecnophilia to new levels.

I believe that (partially) it also led to the rise of people like Linus Tech Tips and a whole host of other internet-based entities as, everyone was trying to get this game running at some magical frame rate and resolution.

There is (therefore) some school of thought in my own head that is suggesting to my conscious mind that Guru3D would not be as popular as a result of this game and company not existing.

It's just the way I feel, but yeah, in the world of the butterfly effect, this game had bigger wings than most people give it credit for.

    NINJA EDIT:

Any excuse to show this video:

ah too bad you didn't like it, the entire game wasn't good but it had some really epic "action scenes" that I still remember many years later (I may have mixed crysis 1-2 somewhere sorry that was a long time ago)
    - a night jungle and enemies with laser pointers or something moving around while I'm trying to be stealthy
    - the epic tank charge against the mountain
    - the low-grav spaceship interior which I disliked then but the fact I can remember entire sections means it worked
    - the dramatic ending on the carrier ship
it was like in the movies, but better not many movies have scenes that great and I got to "live" them, awesome times :)
for a boy that grew up watching the VHS red letter media made famous on youtube lol

edit : @Undying nope for the reasons I mention above, it had sections that are still unmatched today, just like avp 2000 btw there's a super hard section in a corridor with waves of aliens rushing at you, it's the movie "aliens" but you're playing it while the recent AVP game is slow and clunky

Probably, I've enjoyed a few of the remakes but overall new content is better.

Reminds me of Disney making remakes of its classics.

    No sir!
You need to have imagination, to be creative, to expand a story, new gameplay elements - so NO!

Easy to redo it with "now" capabilities in mind (hw/sw).
just combine with some sort of time travel/jump, which means it can be set in the "future"
e.g. after crysis 1-3 and introduce new stuff because of it, and the jumps bring you back to prior scenes,
which allows to keep certain game "levels/experiences".

gee, do we old guys have to explain to Gen Z how its done?

I wish Crytek would team up with Gabe and make Half-Life 3.

You mean like how Lion King remastered Kimba the White Lion?

In any case I hope they don't get into any controversies. Like tessellation underground water, etc. Because I'm sure they want console players to buy the game.

this would be gold if they actualy coming with crysis 1.2.3 remasters. But crysis 3 is so demanding already what can they do to fix that one?

Make the game come with an exercise bike so that you have to provide x% of the power yourself.

I think Crysis 1 at max settings still looks better than some of the games even today. I just finished it (for the first time) a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised by the graphics. I honestly dont think a remastered is needed. How about remasters for Star Wars combat sims (Xwing, Tie Fighter, Alliance)?

Some of my most wanted remasters list: TibSun, RA2, Emperor Battle for Dune, Generals/Zero Hour.

Are they actually going to pay their employees this time or just file garbage lawsuits all day?

The only decent people in this studio have moved on - most to CIG.
