It feels like the end of an era: the Freezer 7 Pro has long been one of our most loyal companions, and even though it wasn’t a high-performance beast, it was known and loved by countless customers a...

  2. Looks like a good, cheap upgrade from oem coolers.

    not really.
anyone that used artic before knows it will be silent on low/med load,
and its heatsink is thicker, so should perform the same.

Outside that the Deepcool is a 6y old design (AM4 anyone),
and only gets 2y warranty (vs 6y) probably because of the lower grade bearing,
potentially failing sooner and most likely noisier (sooner).

I never liked that clunky piece of plastic and fans on their coolers, but they were cheap, much, much better than box cooler..

terrible idea to have a nonstandard fan, once they break (and arctic fans are trash that fails quickly), your solution will be zipties :/

right, that's why all their fans have 5/6y, some even 10y warranty (other brands you know?).
I use arctic stuff for 20y now, no problems with anything, actually are quieter than many other brands after a few years, as they dont get dirty bearings.

Provide some (global) numbers for product failure/rma, being higher than others in similar price range, that support that a non standard fan is a bad.

It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison test between the two. I'm pretty confident the Deepcool would come out on top.

At this price point, they're probably very comparable. Honestly even if the Deepcool cooler is maybe at the most 5% better in cooling, warranty length alone would be a benefiting factor.

Arctic Fans fail quickly? I have some here that are almost 20 years old that still work just fine. Have a friend running a Freezer 7 Pro that's at least 10 years old....still on it's original (near silent) fan. Have family running an Arctic Cooling HSF that's at least 15 years old, still on it's original fan. I've never actually seen a fan from Arctic fail....
