I always use sleep with a 980M, latest drivers and latest win10 updates (not insider). I didn't encounter specific issue. Did you try DDU and installing drivers from scratch ?

Please stop just mentioning "why are you using sleep" or "you shouldn't use sleep" etc...
The OP asked for a specific issue and potential solutions, not for your patronage in not using normal features on a computer...
And we don't all have super fast SSD, super fast ram and CPU so it actually does matter whether we use sleep or not.

I always do that - it's become quite a religious practise now.

Nor should it matter what our hardware is - like you say, it's a normal feature and if it isn't working as intended, it must be fixed.

Did you check windows event viewer to pinpoint the issue ? What is the exact error message ?
Did you check if there was vbios update for your card ?

So is it a Windows solution or a Nvidia drivers Solution? If you need it for work(and it sounds like you do)I would remove the windows update, or keep the old drivers. To play games on a unit where you need quick access is asking for trouble. I never leave my rig running, keeps my PSU and other items Fresh. And if I need a rig for work then I use a different rig.

  5. We have 2 PCs here with Windows 10 1803, NVIDIA cards and drivers 430.64 and 441.xx. Both have no issues. It's most likely completely specific to your HW configuration. In which case you should contact MS or NVIDIA support. But honestly, the very first reply you'll get is to update your OS and drivers to latest versions...

Havent had these kind of problems for while myself but i update my Windows installation manually by getting updates here: support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4464619/windows-10-update-history
You dont need to necessarily switch to latest build(i use 1809 LTSC myself), each one itself gets updates as kind of rollups of fixes. Thats been enough for me to avoid any problems as long as i stay up to date there and with drivers.
Since its wake up problem obvious solutions like trying to turn off Fast Startup, changing stuff in your Power Plan come to mind. Not sure how sleep is related to graphics cards thou, i mean what could it possibly have to do with graphics unless theres some kind of mess in power settings...

    Error message is:

A problem with your hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.

    Parameter 2: 0
    Parameter 3: 0
    Parameter 4: 0
    OS version: 10_0_18362

PS did I omit the fact this exact same problem happened on my old PC which was 100% different hardware?

This was a "critical" event, right (even type) ?
The OS version indicates you have 1903. Latest consumer version is 18363.657 (1909). Did you try the last version ?
Also, you didn't mentioned if you have the latest vbios for your GPU.
And I will add: do you have the latest bios/UEFI for your motherboard ?

If you got BSOD, you have a dump at the time of the crash, you can check with BlueScreenView the details: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html (easier than manual dump check). You should be able to pinpoint which driver caused this.

Not yet, but as I think I said, this has been going since April last year with every windows version anyway.

As I said, this happened with my previous system, 100% different hardware including video card.

    Yes.

I don't get BSOD, just hard lock. I just posted in the last reply the error code.

Post a msinfo32 text output to pastebin, the windows 10 msinfo32 includes driver versions and dates that even speccy and such doesn't.

Again, waking up an old thread, this must have been a windows bug because via a combination of time, updates and Nvidia drivers, it's not happened pretty much since this thread, give or take.

I never really found out the cause, but it's gone anyway.

Happened in the last few 46x.xx drivers.

I often do a restart before starting a game just to have it all crisp and ready to go
