It does look like gold plating on plastic key caps, surely if the caps were alloy then they'd be smooth.

I think it was PC Gamer that reported on it as well and said that ironically the company had just gifted one to some Saudi prince - so when you're rich enough to actually afford something, even this hideous, you are just given it.
