Intel reportedly delayed 10th gen Desktop Due to high (300w) power Consumption

Reportedly from where? The only place I've seen this reported is here. Also, claiming intel is still doing basic design optimization for power this late seems a bit specious. Any source at all?

 

I don't really see the problem here. Most CPU-s ALONE can consume 300W (https://www.legitreviews.com/amd-fx-9590-8-core-cpu-review_190566/9) or half (https://www.anandtech.com/show/8316...the-fx9590-and-asrock-990fx-extreme9-review/5) (considering it's a 4 core vs 10 core.)

Nothing usual, they just had skillz in 4core field and they happily abused that while AMD was thinking big about future with FX design which happily for intel didn't happend (more cores more performance). Everything afterwards (exept 6-8 core, but still not as succesful) is a big fail.

anyways, it seems Intel is making an FX9590 now something that AMD did back in 2014 huehue

I hear they were planning that, but then they realised the industrial coolers they use in their demos are illegal in the West because they are full of ozone destroying coolant.

 

Well, even the ryzen 3700x exceed 300w on power consumption in full load, and honestly i dont think thats a problem

 

3700X does not exceed 300w power consumption. Don't be rubbish.

Intel has already reached the limits of the 14nm process, they really need to move on but it seems they´re are stuck... I hope makes the most of this break.

 

Maybe they could use a fridge to cool it?

 

We really need a decent standard for both thermal and consumption figures. TDP is just used and abused to look good on marketing papers.

 

Im checked on anandtech, techpowerup and toms hardware, sorry but is true, maybe youre confusing about thermal dissipation power and power consumption

Now, this is something.
Having a few players in CPU manufacturing, it's easy to play with different measurements and makes some slides in which one is the winner and other the loser. A real standard will clear the picture for everyone and the standardization could be easily translated in layman's terms.

As someone who works in the nuclear industry (indirectly): Windscale wasn't a "true" meltdown, but a fire. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima are the main *actual* meltdowns. Chernobyl works quite well
