If I enable the new Image sharpening option globally, how do I prevent it from being used on the desktop and non gaming applications, or do I have to enable it manually for each game?

I never noticed any change on the desktop, but you can configure any program to be disabled in the program tab.
I guess you would need to add explorer.exe to list and disable it if sharping was effected there.

Odd if I have sharpening enabled, it even affects my Windows 10 logon screen.

Yeah, it's better to use it on a per-game basis rather than global.
Not sure why you'd want it on global anyway, other than to have a custom GPU scaling but reading news about the upcoming CES drivers that won't be necessary anymore, since GPU scaling for sharpening will be a separate option not tied to the global sharpening setting.

I just noticed they got rid of the pre rendered option from NVCP, why did they remove it the low latency mode only has 2 options
