    I see this all of the time. Super elite pro PC folks use DDU and never use one of it's most important options.

    I not sure how I feel about this, I download drivers few days ago and it was still standard now all I can find is DCH

    The wording is confusing, "you may still find them in the Nvidia driver downloads archive page." does this mean going foward they onnly offering DCH drivers or the standard of new drivers will be in archives?

    How do you disable Ansel in these drivers? Usually it would be in the main Nvidia folder on C:\ but I don't see it there anymore. Everything is switched around with these DCH drivers! :mad::confused:

    the nvcamera utility is in the driverstore folder corresponding to the driver.

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv*

    Yes, im sure people really needed to be forced to a control panel which actually has real bugs and support issues.

    some people can't even get their screens full capabilities on the dch packages.....
    some can't set physx, vsync, and various other settings coz of stupid microsoft decisions.

    Is slimming of DCH drivers same business as with 'legacy' drivers? Any differences? I am on 1060M and have never been able to install a DCH driver. Maybe I will have to download the whole Experiance and update from there :)

    What? Forcing DCH drivers on everyone? This is bad, I installed DCH version of 441.66 and then Microsoft decided to install older NV Control Panel on top.. I could not change most settings, I had to DDU them, and reinstall standard drivers, please don't do this and instead write to Microsoft to change their GPU drivers/control panel install decisions.

    And does DCH break Nvidia Inspector as the driver files for profiles are in a different location now?

    Really don't see the need for DCH, and disappointed Nvidia is forcing this. Additionally, everything I've ever used from Windows Store has been broken or suffers retarded design decisions (I especially like the broken Dolby Atmos support I have right now thanks to a borked install from WS and where uninstalling to reinstall doesn't properly remove it *sigh*)

    I'll be sticking with standard, thanks.

    nvidia inspector uses the nvapi, it doesn't rely on where files are.

    Started using the DCH drivers a few drivers back had zero issues, no surprise that Nvidia is going this route.

    About Windows Update "hijacking the driver install", I use two registry files to toggle Windows updates enabled/disabled. If disabled it can't do the driver interference thing.
    Copy/paste the following into two text files and then rename them to Windows Updates Enabled.reg and Windows Updates Disabled.reg (or whatever you like.)

    I think it requires a reboot to take effect. So use the disable, reboot, then uninstall/install your new driver. Then use the enable one or wait until you actually want to do Windows Updates to use it.

    Windows Updates Enabled.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
    "DoNotConnectToWindowsUpdateInternetLocations"=-
    "DisableWindowsUpdateAccess"=-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
    "UseWUServer"=-

    Windows Updates Disabled.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
    "DoNotConnectToWindowsUpdateInternetLocations"=dword:00000001
    "DisableWindowsUpdateAccess"=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
    "UseWUServer"=dword:00000001

    Edit to respond to next post: Disabling drivers from Windows Update is not enough. Sometimes it will jam a driver in anyway. I assume because it is marked as a security update instead of a driver update. Especially true if you prefer an older driver and don't want it 'hijacked' by Windows updates.

    that isn't necessary when you can disable driver experience updates.
