Well since Zen3 is scheduled for H1 2020 and AMD claimed they will support AM4 through 2020 I’m putting 2 and 2 together on that one.

really it shouldn’t be surprising AM4 is robust as is and with the way AMD is able to evolve the platform going from a single chiplet in Zen/+ to now a cpu with two chiplets and an IO controller in the same socket them making AM4 work with Zen3 is not far fetched. I would bet they will change sockets only for a RAM revision. DDR5 is on the horizon.

to bad not same stories with X399
ironically X399 the one that should last longer considering its HEDT class

Read the Tom's hardware review on i9-9900KS - there they compare with i9 9900k oc at 5 Ghz.
Just a note on average watts in AIDA stress test power consumption
    i9 9900KS @ 5 GHz: 135
    i9 9900KS @ 5.2 GHz 164
    i9 9900K @ 5 GHz: 174

I simply can´t get interested or excited for this binned/oced CPU... Yes it´s super fast and the best CPU for gaming but even so... Even a price cut on the current 9900K would be more interesting than this... Bring out the new stuff Intel!

    Great review as always.

    S!

I play in the 2560x1440 range and comparing 9900KS to 3900X or 3950X tells that KS wins by a "whopping" single digit frames per second? Some great bragging rights there :p Nevertheless nice review on a nice product.

I will probably get banned but am I the only one here that is shocked on how this article is written like it's some sort of new architecture with fancy words buttered up? It's nothing special and aren't there like another 77 vulnerabilities found in the month of November? Also during GPU benchmarks you're like the only one that puts AMD gpu's last even if it's tied to Nvidia you always put it a notch down to make it look like AMD performs badly when in fact AMD did waaaaay better in RDR2 vs Nvidia's cards.

I love your site ever since I was a kid and still view yours if not more than Techspot, Extremetech, anandtech, etc.

I think this has more to do with TR3 not having the IO die on the CPU like the 3000 CPU’s do. TR40 is a huge leap though when you look at it. X570 is really just a pci revision.

Not an AMD fanboy I buy what is best bang for buck and what future that platform has. I made a comment because someone else noticed it and chimed in. lol you got me on the other part but yes I had a long night and lack of sleep I typed the wrong website ha ha.

That's a totally legit advantage from AMD. I always buy Intel and forgot how many different Chipset I got. But unfortunately my first PC years ago, without knowing anything about PCs the vendor built me an Intel + Nvidia and since all my PCs are like that. And to be honest for long time in my time Intel have had the upper hand. Now, again, unfortunately can't change but not because I'm fanboy, but simply I love this duo. Forgive me for that.

I'd the same if not for the next get Nvidia GPU. Let's name it RTX 3060. From my 1060 it would be more than a good upgrade. Truly can't wait. As for CPU, my 9700K will do for at least 2 years more.

Umm no. If you have the motherboard for this chip, you're not suddenly going to need a new motherboard next year> Not sure wtf you are even talking about. It's like telling me that even though I have a z370 and an 8600k - "hey next year you'll need to upgrade to a new mobo if you want to keep using that CPU" - ummm NO. Maybe you worded this wrong, but it just sounds like nonsense.

As for technology progressing and you requiring a new mobo when you upgrade after a few years, that's normal and been the case for a very long time and isn't about to change.
