Noctua today introduced the long-awaited all-black versions of its award-winning NH-D15, NH-U12S and NH-L9i CPU coolers. Staying true to the successful formula of the original models, the new chromax....

no more uggly (but good) air cooler.
    This one is looking nice.
I would be interrested to know if the coating is reducing the cooling capacity.

Noctua is so boring. They need to jump on this RGB bandwagon.

I wish there were some nice beige and brown cases, suiting my personal needs with regards to feature set, to go along with the original look. :p

Seriously though, I would totally buy that!

They should come out a brown led variant first and talk about how it took them 9 years to get the perfect shade of brown.

Jokes aside I have a lot respect for noctua. The price/performance is probably on the extreme side but I love companies that put quality above everything else. It forces their competition to compete and pushes the market forward.

Thousands from the 90s you could use.

    Sadly no.

Aside from being unsuitable for most builds today the cases of the 90s were far more cream than beige, and certainly never brown.

I do kinda miss the green PCBs though. :(

RGB is so tacky, makes me cringe everytime I see it

Linus did a video a day or two ago to compare. Results showed a small difference in temperature (a degree or so) and an opposing difference in acoustics.

They suggested the difference was down to manufacturing tolerances (As the louder fan produced a greater cooling effect, suggesting the fan was spinning slightly faster) and I think it's a reasonable concussion.

Really you'd need to compare 5 or 6 pieces of equipment to get a really valid result.

    Question is:
Does black coating improve heat transfer with air?

wondering about the coating would never have come to my mind but apparently many do so Linus got you covered (fans hardly ever do the advertised max rpm so the results are logical)

I do not stare at my case whilst using a computer, the light would be a distraction, hence why i go for a closed case.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ditto, my thoughts entirely, in my case it must be the age thing, getting old :(

There was two things i was fully expecting to not happen before i die. The Montreal Canadiens winning another Stanley Cup and Noctua making something not brown. Does it means the Montreal Canadiens will win the cup this year?

I dont see what color of fan or hs matters or why people are ecstatic about this from noctua do you play games on your pc or look at internals? Then again I don't get the whole fascination with LED out the wazoo or the see threw panels. Functionality over cosmetic bs that dont matter.

Of course the coating improves thermals. Much like RGB improves DRAM speeds. Come on you should know this stuff. /s

Because my computer is on a desk in my living room. I like when it doesn't look too bad.
