As for me...I think I would be a great comedian!...nothing better in the world than a good laugh!... So what would you do if you really had your choice and were confident enough to make it work out?
All things considered, I wouldn't trade my current job (Product Development Manager) for anything else. It's satisfying work, I am part of a great team, I make good money, and I work just a few miles from my house. I couldn't ask for anything more. I do wish I had spent 4-8 years in the military when I was younger though - specifically in a combat arms MOS. I wanted to join the Marines and serve as a rifleman, but I always had a bunch of personal excuses that kept me from doing it (girlfriend, family, playing music in a band, etc.)
Minister. Something helping people. Or a Comedian. I've been told most of my life I'd make a great one.
Well we'll see if it works out. Quit my full-time job of 60-65 hours/week back in August. Went back to College (dropped out years ago), started this fall semester, picked up part-time work. Studying Performing-Arts (acting). I stick out like a sore thumb but what the hell, I'm enjoying life.
If i told you all what I've already done in my nearly 54 years on this beautiful planet, you wouldn't believe me. Life is amazing, don't ever be afraid to try new stuff, succeed/fail spectacularly and get right up and try again. I wouldn't change a thing.
Pro-Wrestler.......i could have done it (probably still could if i wanted to live in the gym....which i don't.) I am loud, big (big and fat these days ), and wild looking, and am all around a very colorful character. I was a good athlete (and am still a fair to good tennis player when i can be pulled away from work), but never thought it would be any kind of career path for me. Always loved pro-wrestling but always heard such horror stories of the lives they led. Now, all the wrestlers are clean-living wrestling nerds.....way more my speed. That said, I love working for myself, and have always loved IT. My life has been blessed greatly, and I am thankful for all I have. My loved ones and myself are comfortable, safe, and stable every day, and I could not ask for more than that.
Honestly, I don't think it would make much difference. If I could choose I'd probably become a writer / author.
Would love to spend more points on charisma and education and choose to be a lawyer or notary. Or certification on electrical engineering/renewable energy sources.
If i could go back to 1984 and i was given a choice other than the railways, i would have picked computers, IT or that type of repairman type stuff, would love to have that level of knowledge of boards and chips and circuit diagrams and all that, but i am afraid it was shovles, picks, iron bars, bulkhead and CWR rail, plates, bolts, chairs, sleepers, fastenings, ballast, and most importantly never being heard in -40 winter temps asking for gloves less anyone in the bothy hears you and then your life is over as you are mercilessly mocked by a gang of 15 for the rest of your days for being less than manly. lol Point in question....... lol..
Becoming President of the USA seems fun. Play golf. Tax free for companies I own. Blame all problems on people who disagree with me. Take cute pictures with USA flag. (People love it!) Brainwash my supporters with Russian propaganda. Rub oligarchs back sometimes, so I can get away with the most crazy crap. Damn, I can be really good at it!
Teach children... I actually tried to give up my profession a few times for teaching but I don't have a teaching degree so I cannot be accepted yet I possess a ton of commercial and development experience.
