    I didn't know they were gone. I bought a brand new 4TB gold on Amazon for $140 just about a year ago.

    Black never was an Entretoise solution, Gold was always WD's Top Enterprise drive until WD decided to discontinue them for some reason and started losing business enough to bring them back.

    disks left spinning without head parking generally only fail if there are already magnetic weaknesses in the platter.
