Graphics totally put me off, I'm not generally fussy but that game looks bland as hell which is such a shame because the track design, gameplay and physics look like pure wipeout. Wipeout HD on PS3 will still remain my ultimate Wipeout experience I guess. Must be the whole VR thing, they kept it looking like a high res Nintendo 64 game just maintain a smooth VR experience. Also this hacks me off a bit: Even with limited tech at the time, in my opinion the Wipeout series was also a lot about beautifully realised futuristic environments with advertising billboards, neon lights, futuristic skyscrapers where the track would snake around and over them and other cool touches. Based on that video this game seems almost entirely devoid of all that coolness. I mean on 1 hand we have this. And somehow this is meant to be a love a letter ? Sorry but as much as I want to, I just don't feel the love
@Repo Man Bland? Plenty of workshop content to change that: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/t...rules-in-1st-post.423135/page-11#post-5619281 Having never played any of the Wipeout games I'm absolutely loving this game. Might be my new favorite arcade racer. Really cool to compare BNG to Wipeout 2 and 3 on youtube. Also how drastically the series changed with 4 (Fusion?) The gameplay (physics/handling) and camera (position/movement) look really not as fun and quite stiff imo. Anyone who played 1-3 and newer installments, how would you compare them in terms of gameplay feel? Looking from outside it looks like BNG is like this perfected version of 2 and 3. PS. I don't want to put down Wipeouts, but praise BNG! It's fun as hell! Now I'd like to try all the Wipeouts aswell though...
Looks like they added a proper lobby system with v1.1.5 (no need to ask for ip or other shenanigans), but they still managed to keep the drm free mode.
