  2. Nice. I figure 3800 @ cas 14 should be about the sweet spot for new zen stuff.

First 3600 CL14 and now 3800. Really pushing the boundaries here (not that I'm complaining).

    BTW, wasn't B-die discontinued?

I thought the infinity fabric dropped the ratio to 1:2 if memory speed was over 3600Mhz

It is, but you can manually force it to 1:1.

Seems not. Or maybe they'll use as a brand justification for the premium prices

B-die has been discontinued so expect a hefty price premium which will probably negate some of the cost to performance benefit of ryzen. I paid almost as much for my flarex kits as I did for R5 2600 but that was also during the dram shenanigans/gouging.

Proof that b-die has been discontinued?

Last time I checked, samsung started to produce more 16GB+ sticks, not stopped produce 8GB sticks of b-die.

    I could be wrong ;)

I wonder if they will actually sell the ram? They announced a similar thing with Flarex at 3466mhz that never went on sale.

1.5V? ugh ... I can't even set voltage that high in bios :)

Why is the memory frequency reported in system always HALF the advertised memory frequency? i.e advertised as 3800MHz, but runs at 1900MHz. Is this more marketing tricking consumers or what? What does the memory run at,... 3800MHz or 1900MHz?

Looks like they have some b-die in stock:

The new memory kits have timings of CL14-16-16-36 and are available in two DIMM kits: 8GBx2 (16GB) or 8GBx4 (32GB). According to G.Skill, the modules are constructed using Samsung's legendary B-dies and will stand up to the rigors of overclocking that they will be subject to in the hands of enthusiasts.

I know what it means. But if it actually, really runs at 1900MHz, then that's what they should call it.... but of course they don't ... because 3800MHz looks better/faster to consumers.

Is 1900mhz, with what they call 3800 MT/s ( mega transfer? i have no idea what it means ).

It should be advertised at 1900mhz indeed, they are doing ti since the DDR 266, they will not stop now.

Yes more marketing sales bull. Basically it seems that because it is double data rate, they are saying it is equivalent to an imaginary, ancient, single data rate RAM which runs at 3800MHz. But it really only runs at 1900MHz.

This has been standard for some time (where have you been living for the past two decades?). Anyone who knew about DDR would not have been surprised by the reported frequencies.
